Simply the Best Experience
Words cannot define the worth and joy it was to have Kawania and her team be a part of my wedding day. We started working together about a year before the event. She was a constant advocate for our needs and budget throughout the process, being realistic at every turn.
I did not appreciate her team talents until I went to other weddings where they were not so blessed to have Kawania as a team member and wedding planner. What I know now is that what you get with Kawania is experience and know-how of the industry. She has planned several weddings and events before and knows how to troubleshoot mishaps that may happen on the wedding day in real time. She also understands that the day of the event is a special moment for everyone involved and she knows not to bring stress to the wedding party and to allow them to live in the moment. At subsequent weddings, I have felt that my friends needed this approach with their planners on their wedding day/weekend. I, being their guest or in their bridal party felt the disorganization that their planners or self-planning brought. This was not the case with Kawania. We had glowing comments about our wedding day for even a year after and how it was not just a ceremony but a day of entertainment.
I also appreciate that the team at Howerton/Wooten Events rose to the challenge of dealing with a culture that was not her own and thrived and making sure that our Liberian/Sierra Leonean and Nigerian wedding was a perfect blend of our backgrounds. This also included dealing with some of the cultural elements of our family and expectations at the ceremony. She should be trusted with any wedding from West African nations. We gave her guidance and she delivered.
It was also refreshing to understand that she is an excellent communicator. We had regular meetings throughout the year, about once a week. I have seen my friends have wedding planners who do not get back to them for several days after they have a question about their wedding. Kawania brought my vendors to me instead of me having to look for vendors on my own and when one did not work she always had another one that could take the place. She even set up meetings with me and my vendors one-on-one so that I would feel comfortable with them before signing the contracts. Additionally, since she is so experienced at event planning reviewed all of our vendor contracts to make sure that we were getting a fair contract and that expectations for the vendor and for us were both reasonable and what we were looking for. She suggested more than a few amendments too!
Being a very busy working professional I appreciated that Kawania went above and beyond to make sure that I stayed on the schedule and was extremely patient when there were moments when I could not. I value how she brought my vision to life and had such great attention to small details that my day was exceptional. I have seen my guests feature elements of my wedding at their subsequent events and it speaks to how she was able to set the bar high for what a classy and unique event should be. Far beyond a wedding planner, she has become someone that I keep in contact with after the wedding. She even checked in on me when there was a major catastrophic event that took place in the area where I lived months after the wedding.
There were even moments when I became uncertain or stressed and focused on the wrong thing when it came to my wedding. Kawania, quite like a mother figure helped me realize what my focus should be and to ignore all other distractions so that when I walked down the aisle, I was in full confidence of how the day was going to be and did not feel a single ounce of stress on my wedding day.
I could not be more thrilled to work with Kawania again. Although I do not see myself getting remarried I would certainly work with her for any big event I needed in the future. She has such a positive energy and global about her and brings a light to every interaction even difficult ones that makes her pleasant, respectable, dependable, and all around the absolute reason why my big day went off such success. I cannot state how tirelessly she and her team worked so when I did meet them in person but felt like I was meeting friends who knew exactly what I wanted. You will not regret working with Kawania and Howerton + Wooten events!

They were prompt, professional and helped us make sure our days was wonderful. My husband and I were able to enjoy our day. My family and friends were also able to enjoy all the festivities because the H&W team had us covered. I highly recommend the for you wedding or special event. -

The Howerton-Wooten experience was truly special. I expected a planner to manage logistics of my wedding. What I got instead was such caring service from Kawania, LaShonda, and Marlo every step of the way. I only had a vague vision of what I wanted for my wedding and they were able to take a small concept and run with it to build the wedding of dreams I didn’t even know I had. I felt way out for my depth when I first started planning and so I got the full service and I will say it was worth every cent. The team is experienced, thoughtful, and so collaborative that I was the least stressed bride I know. They work with the best of the best vendors in the industry and I was able to be at peace and present during most of the planning and especially the day of the wedding. My husband and I will never forget being taken such good care of and we can’t wait to hire them again for all our life events! -

I’m not sure who is the bigger genius: the professionals at Howerton+Wooten, or ME for hiring them!! When my now-husband and I had our first call with Kawania, we knew immediately that we had found our team captain. Kawania radiates warmth, expertise, knowledge, and understanding and those values are reflected throughout the H+W Events organization. Kawania created a bespoke package and experience that reflected our needs and our budget. She was a supportive and grounding force as she helped us design our wedding before another member of her team - LaShonda - took over to put everything into action. LaShonda was such a joy to work with. She made me feel heard, understood, and supported - even when my parents were trying to push for their own choices! - and made sure my husband and I were happy with each and every decision. I had an easy time trusting her and her ideas. Our wedding day was flawless thanks to LaShonda’s diligence, creativity, and leadership. Everything from the ceremony rehearsal to our last dance and send off was perfectly executed and easy. Our entire wedding party raved about LaShonda and her incredibly helpful schedule — a HUGE bonus for this Type A/control freak bride. I knew LaShonda had everything covered - even things I never thought of - so I was able to fully relax in the days leading up to the wedding and on wedding day. The only thing I had to worry about was getting dressed!! My only complaint is that our business together has concluded — I will miss Kawania, LaShonda, and the entire H+W Events Team! I guess we’ll have to plan an anniversary party!! TLDR; Do not hesitate to hire this team. It will be the best and smartest decision you make. -

Kawania and her team at Howerton + Wooten made my vision come to life for my wedding April 2022. The planning was thoughtful and very well executed. With her extraordinary creativity, Kawania absolutely elevated my ceremony. I can honestly say, without her expertise, my ceremony and reception would have not been as whimsical and romantic. She thought of all of the little things to take me and my husband’s experience to an entirely different level - she exceeded our expectations!! My guests are still saying it was the best wedding they have ever been attended and that they felt all of the love put into it. We hired the full planning services and, beginning on day 1, Kay and team were professional and on top of it. We were planning an out of town wedding and the thick of the planning process took place during an extremely busy period at work. Kay, Hana and team took charge and kept us looped in during the entire process. I appreciated the creative suggestions and WebEx presentations to provide me a visual of our selected styles and settings. They have solid vendor relationships and worked to adhere to our budget. We were in great hands and the day came together beautifully. A year later and guests are still talking about the wedding. The entire process was fun for me -- and it was largely because of the amazing team we had supporting our efforts. We also received thoughtful care packages during the planning process, which added such a nice touch. I still keep in touch with Kay and team and would hire them again in a heartbeat. I'd highly recommend any couple consider Howerton + Wooten for their big day. You are guaranteed to be in good hands. -

Throughout all of the difficult times, Kay has been our shining beacon of hope. The value of her services are beyond compare. She has saved us many times over her fees in time, money, and sanity.
If you are reading this recommendation, please realize that not only is Kay good at her job, but she is truly a good and decent human being too. It's difficult to walk away from this experience without realizing how much we're going to miss having Kay as an advisor, friend, and confidant on a regular basis.
She has laughed with us. She has cried with us. She has made the impossible happen for us. -

Cherese Sent on 03/03/2015If you are looking for a wedding planner do yourself a favor and schedule a consult with Kay at Howerton +Wooten Events! I had the unique challenge of planning a Maryland wedding while living in Texas. Even though I signed up for partial planning services, Howerton + Wooten completely exceeded my expectations the entire time. She even sent us care packages with wedding magazines and other treats along the way. She assisted us with setting up meeting with vendors and picking out the vendors and items that would best suit our individual style for our multicultural wedding.
Leading up to the big day, Kay and her team really saved us by helping with some extra last minute tasks such as gift bags and table settings which was sooo greatly appreciated. Kay was exceptionally kind and patient from start to finish. She even dealt with my ‘momzilla’ in perfect stride on the wedding day. From the initial contact to several months after the wedding, Kay and the staff at Howerton +Wooten have been wonderful. During the process we not only got the best wedding planner ever but also gained a new friend! We look forward to booking Howerton + Wooten for future events!

My husband and I hired Kay for her one month services. I had been planning my wedding for almost 1 1/2 years before we hired Kay. I had to terminate my previous wedding planner. She lost sight of who was actually having the wedding. So, I was a bit skeptical when my husband made the suggestion to hire a wedding planner for the month of the wedding. I am glad he twisted my arm. Kay was absolutely wonderful. She was organized, professional and understood my vision for my wedding. She offered wedding planning advice, constantly stayed in touch and voiced suggestions to assist in bringing my decorating ideas to reality. About a week before the wedding, I learned the company providing my custom linens totally botched up my order. Kay sprung into action and assisted with locating linen that surpassed my expectations in a matter of days. The linen was gorgeous! She is truly a stress reliever and one resourceful individual. I will forever cherish the memories of my wedding day.
