Make your own Future Mrs ________ Hanger

Cydney J (Cydney M), on January 12, 2012 at 11:17 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 37

I found a site that shows you step by step...WITH pictures on how to make your own personalized hanger.

I remember seeing a couple of gals on here asking if anyone knew how to make these.

Here's the site: http://shellchris.weebly.com/custom-hangers.html

Looks pretty simple...wish I had found this before I got married so I could have tried to make some for my BM dress hangers. :oP Oh well.

I made mine, but here is a tip. If you use the hangers that are meant for skirts and pants (the ones with the wire crossbar and metal clips) then you dont need to drill anything. You just pull out that wire than you can use hot glue (since its thinker) to secure each side in. Here is mine. I made the letters bigger and didnt want them overlapping the wood so I made a bit of an adjustment

Awesome Meredith! I hope you post pictures of them when you are finished! I'm thinking of trying it out for my friend who is getting married...but it won't be until 2013 b/c that's when she's planning it. I think this would make for a great bridal shower gift. Smiley smile

Yes it was. HOWEVER...when bending the wire (use only ur hands since tools scratch the wires) it can be rough on your fingers with the thicker gauges (i think i used the thicker one, 12 or 10g) so have a washcloth or dish rag to use. It also helps keep the heat from your hands on the wire so its easier to bend. Some letters do require you to pinch it closed (like the M) so put the rag over the wire so the tool does not directly contact the wire

I made one for the Future Mrs L too. I will say it takes some practice and re bending but once I got the hang of it, it would literally take me 10 min to bend.

Oh and one more tip I wish i knew...the hangers I got (the ones for skirts) have ridges so a shirt doesnt slide off BUT it wont work for your dress, strapless or not, its just too heavy. So take a knife and cut slits so you can hang your dress.
