About
I would love you give you more information about me and my company that may help in the decision-making process.
I always strive to play the proper music for the occasion. This sounds like a no-brainer but you might be surprised. When I DJ weddings and receptions I don't play songs that deal with relationships breaking up, cheating, etc. and I stay away from songs with profanity in them so you won't offend anyone who is in attendance. I'm able to do this by taking the time to read and categorize the lyrics of the songs that I purchase. I want everything, including the music, to add to the wonderful feeling that comes with a wedding and not detract from it.
I love to take requests from the guests. However, I primarily play the genres of music YOU have requested. I make sure my music library is up to date with the latest releases and have decades of classics to draw from as well.
All my gear is in great working order and I recently upgraded my speakers, subs, microphones, mixer and lights. If you want dance lighting (not up-lighting) I have a great 4-in-1 dance light that is available at no charge. It’s fantastic on smaller to mid-sized dance floors. You can also have the use of a wireless hand-held microphone or lapel clip-on type microphone at no additional charge.
A wedding and reception can be VERY stressful for the bride and groom. One of my goals is to take away as much of that stress as possible. The key to this is good communication. If I have a clear understanding of what you expect from the DJ and you have a clear understanding of what I will do, things tend to go much more smoothly and are less stressful for everyone.
Let me be a resource for you. I have seen many weddings and receptions. I have seen things that work and things that don't and am happy to share my knowledge with anyone. If you have questions or would like a little advice with your wedding or reception I would love to help. I'm not an expert on EVERYTHING but I do know quite a bit.
Safety, integrity, and professionalism are important to us. We (my wife and I) operate with an actual business license and are fully insured. That is something not all DJs do so be careful.
I have an additional document, my 'Wedding Worksheet' that I would love to send you at no charge. It goes through, in detail, the information I will need to effectively DJ your wedding. Also, there is some very good information and ideas towards the end of the Wedding Worksheet that you may find helpful. Just send me a note requesting it and I will gladly send it.
My style is simple and fun. I don't 'scratch' or alter the music when I play it. At a wedding reception, I think more people enjoy dancing to great songs the way they were originally recorded and don't want to hear a DJ 'showing off'. This quote also includes my service as an MC (Master of Ceremonies) at no additional charge. I am very comfortable behind the microphone but am not too chatty. This day is NOT about me, it's about you.
I have been married 32 years this summer and I love my wife more now than when we said our vows on our wedding day! I hope this comes across in my work as a DJ and MC when I work a wedding.
As far as pricing goes, I charge $300 for the first hour and $50 per ½ hour after that of actual DJ time. I don’t charge the time to travel (is if is less than an hour drive from my home in Vancouver) or for set up and take down of my gear. The only other potential charges would be if I need to bring a second set of gear ($75) which I usually use to provide sound for the wedding if it is NOT in the same location as the reception, or if I need to bring my own awning ($75) too protect me and my gear from the elements during an outdoor wedding.
I don't work Sundays. That is my family day.
I look forward to the chance to serve you and helping you make this the wonderful day that it is supposed to be.

A Family Friendly DJ, LLC.
P.S. I book on a first come, first serve basis. Because of the backlog created by Covid my schedule is filling at an unprecedented rate so if you are interested in hiring me (or ANY DJ for that matter) you may want to give me a call and see if we are a good fit for each other or not. If you are worried that I will try to pressure you into making a decision or not, don’t worry. I’m just not that kind of guy. Also, I am fully vaccinated.
