Chef Jamie Yoo, a Korean immigrant who moved to the United States as a teenager, began his culinary education in high school by receiving certification from the Advanced Culinary Arts Program through the Washington Network for Innovative Careers. He later attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York and went on to work in the kitchens of renowned chefs such as Bryan Voltaggio, Gary Danko, Michael Mina, Gavin Kaysen, and Ben Shewry, honing his knowledge and skills in fine-dining. Despite this success, Jamie's true passion was always in Asian cuisine. In 2021, he fulfilled his vision by opening Abang Yoli, offering a modern take on traditional Asian flavors, and catering to various dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, dairy-free and low-carb options. He blend tradition and cultural values from Eastern and Southeastern Asian cuisine in his contemporary approach.
