About
On WeddingWire since 2017
Alternative Wedding DJ is a business in Omaha, Nebraska that offers wedding entertainment services. Stereotypical wedding DJs spoil the fun. They play the same songs (boring). There are gaps between songs (awkward). And they talk on the mic too much (obnoxious).
We’re the alternative.
-
We beat match & blend music (non-stop dancing)
-
We use the mic appropriately (vibe isn’t ruined)
-
We personalize the playlist with your input (you’ll love the music)
Our secret: We’re not “wedding DJs.” We’re nightclub DJs that happen to play at weddings.
We’re a team of real-life DJs and culture makers from Omaha & Lincoln, Nebraska. Collectively we’ve won Omaha Entertainment Awards “Best DJ” category multiple times, produced festivals & operated nightclubs (like House of Loom) & been tested on dance floors from Belgium to Benson.
If you say things like, “We’re having a non-traditional wedding!,” or “We need to blend our multicultural families,” or “I’ll die if my domineering future mother-in-law demands that the DJ to play her QVC album collection,” ... then we're for you!

Hi, I’m the company founder and former House of Loom club owner. I used to live a pretty wild DJ life. I’ve played in clubs from NYC to London and Mexico. Red Bull got me into some crazy situations. The Omaha Entertainment Awards gave me the “Best DJ” award 3 times, and The Reader named me a top Omaha artist. I’m now a full-time disco daddy that takes occasional wedding gigs to fund the diaper mill. When I started this thing, I didn’t know how many “alternative wedding” couples there’d be. Turns out a lot. And if you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them. I get more requests than my family-man schedule allows. So to meet demand, I carefully recruited DJs that fit the vibe. I respect & adore these people. Read on for why I think you’ll like them as much as I do (and what I’m secretly envious of in each of them).

Besides having the best DJ name (checks notes …) ever, Chalis is also one of Omaha’s most sought-after DJs. Her first gig was at my club. But these days, now that I don’t DJ full-time, I noticed she gets all the cool gigs I used to get. (No, I don’t have FOMO — you do!). She’s a staple at Omaha Fashion Week, The Sydney, and the LGBTQIA-friendly Revel pop-up series. I think of her like the go-to for parties with eclectic, indie crowds. That’s why she’s also won Best DJ from the Omaha Entertainment Awards. Even before she was a DJ, I noticed she had a gift for picking really good music. I’m envious of how well she does it.
aka DJ Ness
This guy gets booked everywhere. Like 2-3 gigs a weekend. It’s nuts. If you go out a lot, you’ve already danced to his mixes. Places like The Tavern, The Green Room, Bar 39. (Ask nicely and he may even get you a pass to one of his Cottonwood pool party gigs). He does a lot of behind the scenes work that boosts Omaha’s DJ culture. He also reads the room well, which is why I think of him as among the best DJs in Omaha. But that’s not the main reason I brought him on. I’m envious of his friendly confidence that plays out well during events.
