About

From the time she was young, American lyric soprano, Amy Price, has been singing the songs in her heart to anyone who would listen. She feels called to share the gift of music to the world in a variety of capacities. A native to Houston, Texas, Amy has enjoyed studying and developing her love for singing within the rich soil of the musically diverse garden Houston has to offer. Singing with the Houston Children's Chorus was the start of what would become a lifetime love of hers. From there, she joined Joyful Sound Homeschool Choir under the direction of Paula Spencer. It was here that Amy thrived as a musician and honed her singing skills as she later studied to compete in the TMEA All-State Choir competitions. She was thrilled to place in both the Treble and Mixed All-State Choir's throughout her high school years.

Committing herself to a 2-year period of service to the community following high school, Amy then decided to pursue her bachelor's degree. Over the course of the following 2 years, she earned her BA in Music in May 2007 from Thomas Edison State in New Jersey thanks to an accelerated method of learning. It was during this time that her musical requirements were met while studying at the International Academy of Music in Indianapolis, Indiana, and in Chicago, Illinois under the experienced eye of Dr. M. Dean Kincaid. This 'patchwork quilt' way of earning a degree afforded her the opportunity to - when she was in Houston - continue studying with her voice teacher, Ms. Hannah Nelson-Lu (student of Dr. Stephen King), perform with CANTARE under the direction of Mr. Kevin R. Riehle, sing as an event vocalist for weddings and private parties, perform with the Rice Chorale of the Shepherd School of Music and the Rice Light Opera Society, teach clients through her private voice studio, and both train and act as a guest judge for student competing in TMEA and TPSMEA auditions, among other musically related engagements.

Being a member of the Junior League of Houston has presented Amy with the delightful opportunity of being a part of the yearly Charity Ball since 2008, which is made up entirely of volunteers and benefits numerous organizations across the city of Houston. Well known for his musical prowess, Houstonian Bill Bartlett has been directing these shows for over 30 years. Aside from singing, Amy finds interest in a great many things including traveling, painting, photography, composing, Latin and ballroom dancing, nutrition, cooking, running half-marathons, studying Spanish, culture emersion, fine coffee and teas, volunteering her time with various organizations involving women and children, leading a girls Bible study, reading compelling works of fiction and non-fiction, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Over the course of this next year, Amy plans to audition with various performing societies in and around the Houston area as well as continue teaching students and singing for weddings and other 'delightful opportunities' that come her way. As a young artist, she now desires more than ever to pursue her master's degree. An offer has been extended to Amy to attend the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales in the fall of 2010. She is also exploring other opportunities to study for her masters closer to home, all in hopes of developing an even deeper understanding and appreciation for the vast world of music… and then in turn, sharing this with the world.
