Great value. Unique location. Staff with good old fashioned work ethic and hussel to go above and beyond. Staff with passion for what they are doing.

Before I list my complaints, I will say that Greg at the Anchor Inn & Marina, the man who runs Coal Point, did come through with all the things he agreed to in the contract, but only after my family cornered him and I kept reminding him of what he promised we would have. On the day of my wedding everything looked gorgeous and we had all the amenities that we expected to have. The venue sets up tables and chairs for us and the young man who did that was very nice and helpful.
However, I started trying to get in touch with Coal Point in January for my September wedding. I understand that January is the off season for lake-side venues, but I would think that they would want to book events and people don't stop planning just because it's winter. I finally got in touch with someone in March, and it wasn't even someone who could book any events or give me accurate information. There would be long periods of time where I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone or the front desk girl would answer and tell me that she would get the message to Greg so he could call me back, which of the dozens of times I called and left messages, he only returned my call once. My in-laws provided all the food for my wedding so they called and requested to see the walk-in cooler and the electricity outlets at the facility. Not only was Greg uncooperative, he was rude and dismissive to me and my family. He treated my husband and I like we were children that he could pull one over on. He told us one thing (namely that we would have access to a walk-in cooler) when we paid our deposit and signed the contract, but acted like he didn't know what we were talking about when we brought it up later, saying that we had to have a professional caterer. If you decide to go with this vendor, take extremely accurate notes of when you called and what was said, demand a copy of your contract, be very clear about what you expect, and don't give this guy an inch because he is rude and very unaccommodating.
