About

ANIMAREA is the name of an Italian Modern Jazz Duo (but they can also play with other musicians if necessary: TRIO, QUARTET or more), composed by Rossana Bern (born in Verona - Voice) and Gabriele Toniolo (born in Venice - guitarist, songwriter and producer). The two artists have worked together since 2003, but the ANIMAREA project was born in 2009. Their music is very elegant and pleasant, with smooth jazz, latin, pop and soul influences.

Live concerts and studio experiences were crucial to find the right ANIMAREA mood. Many artists have influenced their style: Burt Bacharach, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Caro Emerald, Amy Winehouse, Incognito, Pink Martini, Barry White, Gloria Gaynor, Swing Out Sister, The Style Council, Simply Red.

They have much experience in live music for wedding and events with a beautiful one international musical repertoire!

Usually the plan for the wedding day is the following:

- Wedding cocktail: live smooth jazz, bossanova, with a very elegant mood (in duo, or trio or quarter: ex.: Voice, Guitar, Piano and Jazz Trumpet).

- Wedding dinner/lunch: background music (lounge, chill out);

- Wedding Cake: romantic international songs;

- After the dinner/lunch (cake and fruit buffet): POP - SOUL music (live: in DUO, TRIO, QUARTET, etc.), the rhythm goes on!

- Dance Music: Live and DJ set: modern commercial music; 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, latin music until the end.

More Information about ANIMAREA's Discography:

The first EP, called "ANIMAREA", was released in 2011. Five originals written by Gabriele Toniolo (in Italian) and arranged by Andrea Zuppini, a skilful musician who worked with Eros Ramazzotti, Rossana Casale, Fabio Concato, Alex Baroni, and many other important Italian singers. The first single "ONDA ANOMALA" was played on many Italian radios and it got great rankings in a lot of contests. In 2012 ANIMAREA presented this song in many festivals. In particular the "FESTIVAL SHOW" (which is a very popular event in the north part of Italy) where they could share the stage with great names of the Italian and international music: Matia Bazar, Enrico Ruggeri, Gary Go, Riccardo Fogli (Pooh), and many others.

In 2013 ANIMAREA produced a new project called "Smooth Live Tour" dedicated to the smooth - jazz music. An acoustic quartet (Voice: Rossana Bern; Guitar: Gabriele Toniolo; Piano: Daniele Bruno; Violin: Egle Rizzuto) and a wonderful repertoire: great classic jazz songs, rearranged 80's - 90's pop songs, and obviously - tracks drawn from the Ep "ANIMAREA". In the meantime Gabriele Toniolo was composing for the new album.

In 2015 ANIMAREA entered "Magister Recording Area" studio to start working on their first album "HOLIDAYS IN ROME", under the supervision of Michele Bonivento (jazz, funky-soul and gospel pianist and producer).

This album contains 10 tracks: 8 original songs (in English) and 2 covers ("Hunting High and Low" - A-HA -; "Les Copains d'Abord - Georges Charles Brassens - ), played by 16 musicians. There is also an important collaboration with Cheryl Porter (famous soul singer from Chicago, who collaborated with Zucchero Sugar Fornaciari, Mario Biondi, Paolo Conte, Katia Ricciarelli, Tito Puente, Mariah Carey, David Crosby e Amii Stewart, and many others). Cheryl Porter loved this new ANIMAREA project so she proposed to arrange the choirs on many tracks and to sing "I will never tire of fighting for love" (written by Gabriele Toniolo) in duet with Rossana Bern.
