Jared Hulteen is BIO's Director of Operations and chief scientist. Before founding Barrier Island Oyster Co., Jared cut his teeth for nearly a decade as a marine biologist for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, where he focused on wild oyster management and shoreline restoration. Jared is a devoted father, a proud graduate of the The College of Charleston, and also served as the President of the South Carolina Shellfish Growers Association.

Josh has over a decade of experience in digital communications and business management. After graduating from College of Charleston, Josh followed his heart (and his future wife) to Virginia and Texas.
But adoration of the Lowcountry does not quickly fade and he jumped at the opportunity to move back to Charleston to co-found and build a sustainable oyster farm that enriches our coastal heritage and protects the waterways that define SC's coast.

As a lifelong Charleston resident, Hamlin comes from a family with deep Lowcountry roots. While pursuing a degree in history at The Citadel, he met his ebullient wife Dani studying abroad in Australia and together they searched for the world’s most beautiful beaches before returning to Charleston to start their family.
Since coming home and settling into his role as a husband and father (which he loves), Hamlin enjoys spending his time working on the water, watching football, and listening to good tunes.
