We booked the gorgeous Jewel Tea Pavilion in Citizens Park for our wedding. We loved the grounds, and the building itself was so pretty. We planned to have the ceremony in the gazebo, but rain made that impossible, so we quickly shuffled a few tables around and had the ceremony in front of the stone fireplace.

Rob was our primary contact, and so easy to work with - organized, thorough, detail-oriented, and quick to respond to our every question. Day of, our contact person was... less so. He obviously didn't want to be there, and once we got initially set up, he left, which was fine. But when the sun went down, we discovered that the light switches were in a locked closet, and we had to scramble and make a couple phone calls before anyone came to turn on the lights.

Overall, I'd recommend the Jewel Tea Pavilion - our guests loved how pretty it was, and had it not been raining, having an adjacent playground would have been great. And the price was very reasonable. Just make sure you have a plan for when the sun goes down!

I had my wedding at Citizen's Park in Barrington, IL; our ceremony was at the John Larkins Gazebo and our reception was at the Jewel Tea Pavilion. I love this park and the fall colors were gorgeous! The Meetinghouse Companies transformed this space into a gorgeous fall wedding! But I have to say that working with the park district was not the easiest.

I reserved our venue a year in advance, and found out several months beforehand that there was going to be a program meeting in our venue right before our wedding, ending at noon. My wedding planner asked if this meeting could be moved to a different location, as my wedding started at 2:00 and setting up a major wedding in 2 hours was pushing the time limit. (Realistically, they want 3 hours to set up a big wedding) The park district was NOT flexible in this matter and would not move the meeting.

Needless to say, it all worked out in the end, but the team setting up my wedding deserves an award for setting up a wedding in the shortest amount of time.

The park is beautiful, we had a gorgeous fall day, so I would recommend the park for a wedding. In hindsight, I would have reserved the Jewel Tea Pavilion for the entire day to avoid any other time conflicts.

We were married at the Jewel Tea Pavilion in Citizen's Park. It was beautiful! We had the ceremony outdoors at the amphitheater, followed by the reception in the pavilion. Though the party turned out to be a great success, there were quite a few bumps in the road. Even though we were told no other events would be booked the day of my wedding, they booked a birthday party for a large group that was not scheduled to end until one hour before my wedding started! My mother got there to set up the room, and they were just serving dinner to their guests, because their caterer was late. They left the room trashed, and spilled leftover food in the grass. Luckily, by time I arrived with my bridesmaids, my entire family, our caterer and our DJ had worked like mad and the room looked beautiful (no thanks to ANYONE at the Barrington Park District, especially the director, who said he would be there and never showed up the day of the wedding). When we confronted the director he refused to apologize and passed the blame to us, the other parry and a colleague. It was extremely unprofessional. The place is beautiful and the price was right, but the service was useless. Get everything in writing with them! You've been warned.
