Overall we are very disappointed with Eventions
My husband is Swiss and I am Greek, having lived in UK-London and living in Switzerland-Zurich for the past 14 years, running my own companies since 2012. I own a bilingual school in Switzerland with 4 campuses in different cities as well as a small company for event planning having organized numerous events in Greece, UK and Switzerland.
We had hired Eventions planning two years ago for our wedding in Symi, believing that a local organizer would give us an excellent outcome with less worries while living abroad. Our wedding was postponed due to the COVID situation, giving more time to the planners for a perfect result. Our expectations were drowned. We chose Eventions based on Google and Facebook reviews that obviously were not real and given from random people. Only 2 or 3 comments are analytical and based on experiences.
We will start from the end! Our wedding day! We never met the whole Eventions team on the island and one of the main leaders was absent without even informing us! The other main leader (knowing there is a dress code with pastel colours and NO black) showed up at our wedding with a totally informal black dress and messy look, a red shoulder bag and brown sandals, literally destroying the most beautiful wedding pictures and video shoots we could have! None of the Eventions team gave us wishes after our wedding ceremony and they remained without smiling for the whole day. At the end they left the wedding venue without even informing us or saying good night!
Our disappointment started when we asked to hire a graphic designer for our wedding invitation. We received a horrible outcome, presenting it as a specific graphic designer's work, who of course refused the outcome. The answer from Eventions was "Georgia made it so you could have it faster"!!!! That was the beginning of a mistrustful cooperation!
There were a lot of small and big mistakes during our cooperation. For a few of them we got an apology but when a month before our wedding we expressed analytically our complaints really worrying for our ceremony, the answer we got was very unprofessional saying that our email was unfair and insulting instead of apologizing and promising a great service from then on.
We paid a bit less than 6000€! The agreed planning fee was 2500€ but hidden costs like renting vases, sousplat, candles etc reached this enormous amount for those serious unacceptable services:
- We had sent an email confirming that the buses to the church would have air conditioning. The ladies suggested that the groom could have a mini party in a minivan which we hired, giving his 9 guests' list to Eventions. Finally only 2 people rode the van as no one was at the bus stations to control the guests. The groom with his two friends arrived at the church fully sweating as the minivan had no air conditioning for a 30 minute ride at 16.30 in the afternoon!
- One of the top cooks on the island - Pantelis mentioned to Eventions that the beef fillet needed to be grilled at his kitchen. The meat was cooked in a pan device at Petalo, destroying the meat we had ordered "medium grilled" and arrived to the tables super dry.
- Our seafood plates were served in different portions, others with 4 or 3 crayfish and different amounts of kritharoto without tasting as we had agreed. This dish was cooked by the venue.
- We had agreed to 2 salads per 4 people when just 2 salads for 8 people were arriving at the tables!!!
- Guests were asked to pay for the water during the night!
- The venue stopped serving wine to the guests saying "the couple has purchased a specific amount of bottles" , when the agreement was there when the labels we chose would finish, the venue would serve its own labels.
- My husband and I went 3 times to kick out strangers that got into the venue, taking pictures and videos of our party! There was no control from Eventions and the venue.
- Petalo venue had mentioned to the Eventions team that they were not ready to host a wedding! We were just informed a few months before that the venue had not found a chef and we would need to pay rent on the top and also find a chef ourselves!!! We found a chef but we refused to pay extra rent that was not in the agreement.
- Eventions asked for our documents to be translated, forgetting to mention that we needed APOSTILLE, making us pay double at the ministry of foreing affairs. Furthermore, they were continually asking for the same documents, forgetting that they had already received it.
- Eventions knew for 2 years that one of the best men was a Christian Protestand. They kept on asking for his translated documents till June 2022 from Switzerland as well as his wedding certificate from Mexico church not knowing that the best man cannot participate formally in our ceremony!!!! The answer to this was "Rules have been changed since a long time from the Metropolis"! Who was responsible to tell us before asking for all those documents and before us promising this person to be our best man?
- They never did any market research for services we asked for. We did the research getting offers for specific services of 50€ instead of 350€!
- We paid 400€ for a very poor refreshment table at the church that had nothing to do with what was verbally described.
Overall we are very disappointed with the choice we made and therefore with the amount we spent as well as all the psychological stress we have been through because of this totally unorganized and unprofessional planner.
