We loved using the Swift Creek Banquet Hall at Pocahontas State. We are an outdoorsy, casual couple- so for us the large windows, wooden beams, and wooden setting was ideal. The office staff offered suggestions for layout, and were very accommodating as we had questions. Very little "rules" compared to other venues (e.g. we were able to use real candles, have a sparkler send-off, etc.)

The caterer we used brought high-top tables so we could have our cocktail hour on the lawn before moving into the banquet hall for dinner. The hall comfortably seated our 100 guests with plenty of room for dancing near the band.

We got married on a hot June day, and for the most part the air conditioning kept up! Just a little hot when dancing!

The major advantage was the price-- for less than most venues we reserved the hall for the day before an after our wedding, making it easier to stretch out set-up and take-down.

Really bad experience - they forgot to make my wedding flowers

I was working with this lady there who used to own her own wedding business but know was working at Flowerama. She seemed very knowledgeable and educated on flowers and wedding designs. Well, to keep it brief the day my flower were supposed to be ready they where not. Completely forgotten about. Very little apology. Very upsetting to the point I was sick over it. I was on top of it with paying and checking in with the store to make sure everything was running smoothly and on point for proper delivery. I am not only sick over all of this but the response from the store was pretty horrific. Nobody seemed to care. I talked to a bunch of people throughout the process, all seemed friendly and nice but with no wedding flowers on the day that was needed, I don't have much to say positively about my experience at this point.
