Gallery Forty-Two is a historic wedding venue situated in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. This fine art gallery was built in the 1830s and is the oldest surviving commercial building in Indianapolis. In 2014 it was lovingly renovated by Philadelphia philanthropists Jim and Linda Hunter and is now owned by businessman and two-time Olympian Bill Kessler. The property blends retro charm with modern luxury to create a premier event venue that welcomes weddings, anniversaries, corporate functions, galas, fundraisers, and more.

Facilities and Capacity

Gallery Forty-Two boasts more than 3,000 square feet of space spread over four floors. The gallery can accommodate up to 120 people and is best for couples hosting an intimate yet elegant soiree. The bottom floor is a breathtaking hall that features wood wainscoting and crown molding, hardwood floors, and elaborate two-tiered chandeliers that glitter from above. Fascinating paintings and statues dot this ground level and can be curated to suit the style and theme of each celebration. A sweeping staircase leads up to the mezzanine, where guests can order drinks at a built-in bar and overlook the festivities below. The top two floors house a number of suites where wedding parties can get ready together. These rooms exude an industrial-chic ambiance and feature exposed brick walls, antique furnishings, and delicate crystal chandeliers. A kitchen is also available and can be used by caterers to prepare hors d’oeuvres and dinner.

Services Offered

Rental of Gallery Forty-Two comes with exclusive access to the entire venue for eight hours of event time. There are three wedding packages that lovebirds can choose between based on their needs and guest list size. The most comprehensive of these include 100 black folding chairs, 20 four-foot round tables, twelve two-foot round cocktail tables, and black linens. Two antique wooden gifts and display tables, twelve full-spectrum uplights, an AV projector and microphone, and a custom monogram projector are also provided. Couples will also have access to a modular dance floor and a two-hour rehearsal time prior to their event.
