They wouldn't contact me without a planner but once I started working with a local planner in Florence (Getting Married in Italy), it was smooth sailing. The venue is over-the-top beautiful, easy to get to, top-notch food, and the table wine was some of the best we had the whole trip. Our group of 35 fit perfectly at a long table in the Sala degli Specchi and it felt like a good value for 130 euros/person (included 3-course meal, wine, cocktail hour with appetizers). We opted to not pay for a dancing reception which would have been 500 euros plus 50 euros/person for drinks downstairs at the bar, but the bar happened to be open until midnight so we just brought everyone down there after the reception and it was great. There is also a rooftop sitting area that would be a lot of fun if the weather is nice. Rooms are super expensive but we splurged the night of the wedding (found a room on Kayak that was 150 euros less than they quoted me for a room block a few days before the wedding) and it was probably the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in.
