I went to Joli Beauty Bar for hair and makeup for my NYC engagement photos after searching and searching for somewhere somewhat affordable with amazing makeup artists -- I actually never planned to get my hair done until I found Joli and their affordable prices won me over! Charde did my hair and makeup and she did an AMAZING job!!! I seriously cannot say enough nice things about Charde -- from her incredible talent to her warm, friendly personality, she was simply the best! It was pretty early (and a weekday) when I went, so it was just me, Charde, and co-owner Zsuzsi in the salon while I was there and they made me feel so comfortable and at home -- I seriously felt like I was hanging out with friends, which helped me relax before my engagement photos. I looked and felt INCREDIBLE for my engagement photos and I would highly, highly, highly recommend Joli Beauty Bar to anyone in need of Hair and/or Make Up services!

Overall, what I loved about my experience with Joli Beauty Bar is that I looked exactly how I wanted to look on my wedding day, because they listened to me and knew how to do beautiful hair and makeup. They made me feel as relaxed as possible, and just... really welcomed. I had done a trial with another well-rated (more expensive) wedding makeup artist, but honestly - the quality was not nearly as good as Joli BB, and I didn't feel comfortable with her to be honest about what I liked and didn't.

1) Quality of Hair and Makeup - Charde was my artist. I had a specific look in mind, and she nailed it and made it even better. My hair was old-school gorgeous but still modern, and my make up made me look like my best self (clear skin, not too much eyeshadow, gorgeous bold lip). I liked that she could do something a bit different from the standard bridal makeup. I also loved that she was clearly listening to my feedback (e.g. "more coverage; more matte"). She is really capable and warm.
2) Professionalism and Flexibility - It is really important that Zsuzsi (owner) was so flexible. Rescheduled trials; increasing the number of girls in my bridal party at the last minute... ahhh, she handled it so well - really responsive, clear, and easygoing. She just seemed to care about me feeling less stressed, and demonstrated that across the entire experience I had with her.
3) The Vibe - We got ready at the salon, and it was SO. MUCH. FUN. The team at Joli made us feel relaxed, but also in good hands. We mostly got done on time (one artist was a little slower than others). We had champagne and bagels, and it was glorious. I much preferred getting ready at the salon than a hotel, because a) its cheaper; 2) we had the whole place to ourselves; 3) I got changed into my dress there, and the photographer came and took some cute, quick shots of us.
4) Value - it ended up being less expensive than other places.

Go here. It takes one really big, important thing off your plate.

After deciding to elope to NYC to get married I took it upon myself to find somewhere that could turn me from an everyday Irish girl to a stunning bride and when I found Joli's beauty bar I knew it was right for me. Just a few simple emails sent to Zsuzsi I could tell from her quick correspondence that the morning of my wedding would be relaxed and fun.
I met with Zsuzsi the day before and she guided me through a hair and beauty look that would suit me and add some spark to my big day. I even emailed about flower suggestions and restaurant suggestions and Zsuzsi was happy to help.
So, the morning of my wedding day.....as we eloped from Ireland to NYC I was very relaxed and calm. Arriving at the salon the girls had a 'Congrats Alana' written on their blackboard outside. Such a small but touching gesture made by Joli's beauty bar......and that was the set up for the morning.....I was their focus and they made me feel and eventually look like a stunning bride! Charde did magical work and we had so many laughs throughout the morning I could not wait for my future husband to see me......he was very impressed!
I would highly recommend Joli's beauty bar to any woman who wants to treat themselves or any bride who wants to look and feel a million dollars on their big day.
Leaving the salon I asked the girls to meet me for a drink later on that day to help celebrate our wedding and to thank them.......and they did turn up to the pub and we had a few glasses to celebrate. A wonderful team who truly do look after their customers.
