A native Minnesotan, Lanell Lightfoot-Stewart began singing at age four. Singing in choirs at her local church helped her to develop her voice and confidence. With her mother as her biggest fan, destiny paved way in the tenderness of Lanell’s youth. She went on to win talent competitions and quickly became a local favorite landing a recording opportunity to sing lead as a guest artist for The Minnesota Boy Choir.
In 1997, the gifted singer toured all over the world with the Grammy Award winning group, The Sound of Blackness. As a member of this inspirational group, she toured with gospel greats: CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, and Kirk Franklin. The Sounds of Blackness, was nominated for a Grammy Award for the release “A Time for Healing (1997)”. This release provided Lanell with an opportunity to sing on the soundtrack for the movie, “The Apostle,” and perform songs from the soundtrack on The Jay Leno Show.
In 2002, Lanell was invited as a soloist to sing, The National Anthem, and God Bless America, on several special occasions for distinguished officials including the President of the United States, George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, and former Mayor of New York City, Rudolph Giuliani. In 2003, she accomplished among her most notable achievements an opportunity to sing for the Queen of England.
