It was reintroduced and adopted in the west by Mikao Usui of Japan in the early 1900s. Madame Takata brought it to Hawaii shortly thereafter. Without body manipulation, Reiki balances and soothes our body?s energy centers, often referred to as CHAKRAS to promote well being of body, mind and spirit. When the body and mind are completely relaxed, one is able to replenish the universal life energy which is love. It can be performed lying down or seated, which ever is more comfortable for you. It?s encouraged to rest 30 minutes after and even take a nap before returning to your daily routine to maximize the soothing and relaxing holistic energy restoration process.
