Meadows Museum is a wedding venue located in Dallas, Texas and offers space for couples who hope to host an elegant celebration. Whether you are planning an engagement party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, or reception, this venue will provide a striking backdrop to any special event. Located on the edge of the Southern Methodist University campus in central Dallas, Meadows Museum is home to one of the largest and most comprehensive permanent collections of Spanish art outside of Spain, containing works from the 10th through 21st centuries by painters such as Velasquez, Goya, and Picasso.

Facilities and Capacity

No matter what kind of event you choose to host, Meadows Museum is sure to provide a sophisticated setting in every room, or you can choose to just rent out the entire museum. The uniquely oval-shaped Gene and Jerry Jones Great Hall is the largest space in the museum and seats up to 110 people. The Algur H. Meadows Founder's Room is available to host intimate private dinners and receptions, with seating for up to 40 guests. The Gates is a bright, flexible event space perfect for small ceremonies or receptions, it can accommodate 60 seated and 75 standing.

This venue allows outside vendors, such as caterers, rental companies, and bands, for convenience. Meadows Museum has ample parking spaces and wheelchair access.

History

Established in 1965 by Texas philanthropist and oil financier Algur H. Meadows, the Meadows Museum is one of the southwest's leading art institutions. After many hours spent at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid on business trips to Spain, Meadows started collecting his own art. After starting The Meadows Foundation (a foundation started in 1948 to raise money for a wellspring of resources to benefit the people of their state of Texas) with his wife, Meadows gave Southern Methodist University funds for a museum to house his Spanish collection. Since its opening in 1965, the Meadows Museum has received numerous donations and funding to expand its collection, serving a broad domestic and international audience as well as the university community.
