My family didn't want to hire (or pay for) a full wedding planning package--I am a very organized person by nature and we were confident that we could handle finding and booking our vendors on our own. I knew, however, that I would be a wreck the day of the wedding if I wasn't sure that all the details were being looked after. With that in mind, we decided to hire a day-of coordinator. After talking with several very nice people, we met with Meg, who was recommended through our venue. Meg was everything we wanted in a day-of coordinator--she was flexible in how much pre-wedding help I could request (some places were very specific about not being able to assist until exactly one month prior to the wedding or strict on the number of in-person meetings allowed), she was familiar with our venue and vendors throughout the DC area, and she was a great value.
Meg was great from beginning to end. I originally thought I would only need her for the weekend of the wedding, but ended up needing and valuing her advice long before. Meg was willing to come with us to our final walkthrough (about 7 weeks before the wedding) and our equipment session with the caterer. She helped me confirm that I had done everything I needed to complete (and reassure me about the things I could eliminate if I ran out of time). She handled all of the final confirmations the week of (thank goodness!) and worked out any last minute wrinkles on our behalf. Despite tornado warnings and horrible traffic, Meg made it to the rehearsal dinner before everyone else to make sure we had space to practice. The morning of the wedding dawned and I was able to fully enjoy every minute of our day. I never once worried that a vendor wouldn't show up or that someone forgot the rings because I knew Meg had it under control. It was great! No one in my family could believe how calm I was and it was all thanks to Meg.
