Motown Throwdown is a powerhouse party band steeped in the traditions of funk, soul, pop, rock, R&B, and jazz. This outfit of veteran heavyweights has established itself as a leader in the Charleston music scene, beginning with their long time residency at the Charleston Pour House. With experience in nearly every setting, from weddings to festivals, the Throwdown approaches each performance with unique intent, tailored to the client or audience. Born within the Motown soul tradition, the Throwdown manifests itself in a plethora of unique styles and arrangements from across the musical spectrum. Expect an enormously energetic performance, LOTS of dancing, and of course to be WILDLY entertained.

OH, and did I mention we like to dance?! Our main goal is to keep people on the dance floor. We are hell-bent on reading the crowd in real time and responding to their energy - no two performances are the same. We don't just plow ahead with a pre-prescribed set list; our performances are exciting and interactive and tailored to each client. More than anything else, we are excited to be onstage doing the thing we love the most!

We offer band sizes ranging from 5-15+ pieces, and can provide a wide range of additional services including ceremony music, cocktail hour, auxiliary PA setups, and full production including staging, sound and lighting. The sky is the limit in terms of production! Our basic PA and lighting packages are included automatically in our base pricing. Our network extends far and wide, and we have the resources to make just about any musical dream of yours come to life.
