About

Paper Betty has unknowingly been in the works my entire life, but I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Blue hair at age 5, a temporary tattoo obsession by age 6, and a knack for getting myself into extremely messy crafting projects at age 8, I was lucky enough to have a mother that was always willing to let me experiment. I remember my childhood days filled with sun, love, and crafts.

From a very young age, I knew that I would always have a creative outlet. I have dabbled in various endeavors and got my start refinishing vintage furniture. However, I was always more interested in the little items, such as vintage tins, odd glass jars, notebooks, and as my family calls it, tchotchke.

However, I never knew my love of little knick-knacks would lead to owning a screen-printing business. That was until my sister, Sloane, got engaged. As she started to plan her wedding, she fell in love with Papel Picado designed invitations. Like most people though, she was on a budget so that’s where I came in. I started to think about how I could give her the look and feel without the price. With a lot of design knowledge and decent illustrator skills, I began assembling the perfect save the dates. With some tweaks here and there and my sister’s seal of approval, it was time to print. Luckily for me, my boyfriend works at a local screen-printing shop here in Atlanta and taught me a thing or two. The next day the save the dates were in the mail and the feedback I received from them sparked an idea. This was the official start of Paper Betty.

Within the next few weeks, I was endlessly designing and then serendipitously scored my big break. While at Lowe’s with my boyfriend, we ran into his boss, the owner of Danger Press. He asked me what we were doing and when I told him I was actually there to buy materials to set up my own single press at home, he laughed and just said, “come into the shop and do it!” For a company that does printing for CNN and Adult Swim, I could hardly believe how amazingly generous of an offer I just received. The next week, after meeting with Ed, I began to get all my ducks in a row.

With hard work, dedication, and access to every screen-printing tool I could ever imagine, Paper Betty was launched. My dream of having a shop full of wedding suites, custom stationary, & home goods is now an actual reality.

Thank you for stopping by & always feel free to contact me with any questions.

I look forward to getting creative with you,
