Dream-Like Wedding Desserts!!

We couldn't have been more thrilled with Eliza's desserts for our Wedding Day! We had a Speakeasy Themed wedding and Eliza went above and beyond to make her desserts fit our creative (and theatrical) theme! She took such great care of us and our guests, and everyone couldn't get enough of her desserts!! We highly recommend Prohibition Pastries for any event in Pittsburgh. Eliza is so creative, friendly, professional, organized, and eagerly open to any challenge that comes her way!! She was a dream to work with, and we were so thrilled with the outcome!

We love Eliza and, having previously sampled her goods at the Public Market and East End Brewery, knew we wouldn't be going anywhere else for our wedding cake. When she introduced herself she said "I don't really like overly sweet desserts," which might be weird coming from a baker but, after eating way too much cloying buttercream and nasty fondant, we knew exactly what she meant - her cakes are delicious and moist (and flavored with whiskey and beer!) but not sweet enough to give you a sugar headache. Our guests couldn't get enough of the fun flavors and she was super accommodating to work with when we needed to change our count or decorations (or rent a stand at the 11th hour....).

My one small critique is that I wish she was a little easier to get in touch with - I tried to be understanding since she's a small business and it was the middle of wedding season, but we would go over a week between emails, which could be frustrating at times. But overall we really enjoyed working with her and encourage you to check her out if you're looking for an offbeat dessert!

We decided to order pies for our June 30 wedding from Prohibition Pastries. Eliza was very responsive until after our tasting and then would go several weeks without responding (after receiving our deposit). She never sent us an actual copy of our contract (only took a picture of it to email to us after the scanned copy was unreadable- which took several weeks after my request). When I asked a question regarding our order it took three weeks for a response- which required me to email a second time in order for her to respond once. The lack of communication definitely added stress to our planning process BUT the pies were delivered and they were delicious. She recreated a look for our cutting pie that was beautiful and we received many compliments regarding how delicious the dessert was.
