Due to COVID-19 and an unexpected surgery my fiancé had gone through, we had no choice but to cancel our destination wedding in PR (like many other couples around the world). We needed to terminate our contracts with all of our vendors - keep in mind this is months in advance of the wedding date. Andres at Rent Event declined to return any of our money back to us. I understand deposits are nonrefundable, but I believe with COVID-19 being a unique act of God, and since no costs were incurred by Rent Event, that it would justify as an exception. I understand the wedding industry is hurting from the pandemic, so we offered for him to keep half of the deposit (even though that’s a lot of money to keep for just writing a quote.... ) and to return half of our deposit back to us, to meet us halfway. He refused again. I don’t understand why he felt entitled to over a thousand dollars when he did not do or purchase anything for our wedding. I do not recommend anyone enters any contract with Rent Event or prepay any money as your money will not be in good hands. To put this in perspective - almost all of our other vendors in PR were willing to work with us and return all or half of our deposits, except for him. It’s more than just a contract, it’s the person who you are trusting to make one of the most important days in your life truly complete. After the heartache of canceling our wedding, and my fiancé and I going through a tough time physically and financially, I could not believe how someone withhold my hard earned money from me. Please keep this in mind if considering Rent Event. Please choose your vendors wisely. You never know what life will bring. There are many other vendors in PR....
