Horrible lack of communication. Beautiful place, though.

My husband and I had our wedding here on a Thursday in late October of 2022. We are from out of town and had found the venue online and at the time, there were almost no reviews. On the website, the pictures looked good, but just in case, we made a trip out the December before our wedding. The location was gorgeous and we were sold. That did nothing to prepare us for what we had to deal with. Most of the comments about the cabin itself are about the main cabin, RC1, as that’s where we spent most of our time.

There are pros to the cabins. They are beautiful. The main cabin, RC1, has a stunning living room with windows and doors that show the river behind the cabin. It has beautiful beams on the ceiling. It is great for hanging out with family or friends and relaxing and looking outside. The outside area was a bit overgrown, but it was nearly winter and that was the vibe we were looking for with our wedding, so we overlooked that. We didn’t spend much time outside as it was freezing, but there was a hot tub and gazebo we could have used. The floors were heated, which was a nice touch we didn’t expect, the kitchen was huge and had almost any utensil or dish you could need. There is a hotel very close by for family to stay at, and the cabin was large enough my wedding party was able to sleep in RC1 with no issues. We didn’t bring our dog, but it was nice to see pets are allowed and a kennel was provided that fit in nicely with the décor.

However, there was a serious lack of communication. This honestly caused most of our issues and stress along the journey when it came to planning and actually having the wedding there. We communicated mostly through a site called Honeybook- which was easy to use- but sometimes it took upward to a month before I would hear back from the owner. I had reached out a week before we were going to visit the venue, and I didn’t hear back from him. The day of the visit, I ended up texting one of the numbers on either the Google page or website before I finally heard back and confirmed we were still able to visit the venue.

Another lack of communication was the fact there was a mice problem with live glue traps placed around the main cabin (we didn’t find any in the second cabin). When I messaged the owner, asking about it, I received no answer.

We had also paid extra for the setup fee, where the owner would set up the reception and ceremony area, put out the tables and chairs, etc. It was mid-afternoon Wednesday, the day before our wedding when I reached out to them asking when they would be setting up the reception area so we could decorate. He ask when the wedding was supposed to be and was shocked when I said it was the next day and that his normal helper was not available. We ended up moving the extra furniture out and setting everything up. We did get that fee refunded, although it took 3-4 months for that to happen.

There were smaller things such as the master bathtub had a major leak, there were nails sticking up from the floorboards, the owner told us we had to move one of our vehicles due to it being in a “fire lane”, then later he parked his vehicle in the same spot, he had let his dogs out to play in the ceremony area, one had pooped, and we had to clean it up so it wasn’t front and center during the ceremony, the reception area/game room had alcohol bottles and trash left in it.

All in all, the location is beautiful, the cabins are beautiful, I would say it could be a good place to have a weekend getaway. I just wouldn’t hold another event here.
