This venue has the potential to hold some beautiful events. The view of Rushford Lake is amazing. Unfortunately our experience had both good and bad. I’m sure some of their practices may be common at wedding venues, but people should know what to expect in advance. First, know that all you are paying for here is the venue. You set-up everything else yourself. We knew that going in. Most of the time there was poor, slow, or non-responsive communication from the Property Manager. People should know this venue only accepts cash and checks (no credit cards, no Venmo, nor any other electronic payment system). We were never given a price sheet showing possible “other” charges and the Property Manager made it a practice (the weekend before the event and on the day we came to set-up there) to announce up-charges for everything from using their refrigerators for flowers or food, and the freezers for ice, to wanting to charge us for removing unwanted chairs. We needed some additional set-up time and she would only accept cash. We paid it, because we needed the time. Lastly, this venue set-up uses 2 large tents to hold the event in, plus a third for the bar area. Unfortunately for us, it rained (poured, actually) for about an hour or more and we had water pouring in on the floor between the two main tents where people were sitting. We had to move tables and chairs in places to avoid the drips. We know they can’t control the weather so we made the best of a wet situation. They did move some utility buckets under some big leaks and we had wet floors in that area all night. The Property Manager informed us at the very end of the night that we were expected to tear down everything that night, when we had been previously told we could do it the next morning. We had no idea until the end of the night. Again, poor communication. She said it is normal practice to do this. (I wouldn’t have minded as much if I had planned for it, especially since we weren’t prepared with the right vehicles to remove everything… and it was late, after a long day. We tore down everything ourselves.) This all being some challenges we faced, Rushford Lake was beautiful and most of the wedding day was filled with love and everyone enjoyed themselves. The venue did help us set-up the food that was from a drop-off caterer we hired and the venue staff was helpful getting the wedding procession in place and moving smoothly. We appreciated that very much. The view of the lake during the wedding ceremony was amazing.
