Located in Woodstock, Illinois, Something Blue Weddings services brides throughout the Chicagoland suburbs.
Heidi Wenzel is a 26-year old Chicago area native currently residing in Woodstock, Illinois with her husband Jon who owns his own web and graphic design firm, The Myriad Sessions. The couple also shares their home with their extremely fluffy cat, Mr. Sams.
Heidi graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois in the spring of 2005. From there, she held several administrative positions requiring her to plan a variety of different events including meetings, conferences, music tours, and chapel services which allowed her to sharpen her planning skills.
After planning her own wedding story culminating in a brilliant blue August afternoon under a stunning white tent, Heidi new she had found a passion. “People would ask me how all the planning was going for my wedding, and I’d say ‘I’m out of my mind…and absolutely loving it!’” Following this discovery, she earned her wedding planner certification from the Wedding Planning Institute, Roseville, CA, in the summer of 2009.
Organization of the little things has been a part of Heidi’s life since she was very small. Her mother recalls how Heidi was the only grade-schooler she could remember that would ask if she could organize the linen closet or the kitchen cupboards. And it’s this same attention to detail that makes Heidi’s planning skills so noteworthy today.
In addition, Heidi exhibits a true love and respect for the institution of marriage itself. “My Beloved is mine, and I am his” (Song of Solomon 2:16). “It’s the uniting of two lives as one; it’s a powerful and sacred moment; I am blessed to be able to have the opportunity to play a small role in such a momentous occasion.”
When speaking of her work Heidi describes it as, “The process of envisioning an event in your mind; imagining how every detail, every color, every piece will fit together and then pulling together all of the resources to make that vision a reality.” When you’re able to achieve this, then you can orchestrate a truly fantastic celebration for each individual couple.
Finally, in her spare time, Heidi enjoys volleyball, biking, reading, board games, and playing Crowball. In addition, she spends her time on her on her true heart’s passion, leading worship with her husband.
