Facilities and Capacity

This unique former theatre has four distinct spaces for hosting special events. Those who wish to hold a timeless grand celebration can invite their guests into the Historic Academy Theatre. One of Lynchburg’s most significant historic treasures, this venue was carefully restored to reflect all of its past grandeur. Couples have full use of the theatre and stage, as well as some of the dressing rooms and backstage areas. The venue can seat up to 200 people, with standing room in the lobby ideal for an elegant cocktail hour. Couples who desire a more contemporary experience can reserve the Harrington Gallery building. This tasteful venue offers newlyweds and their guests the opportunity to celebrate while observing tremendous works of art. The facility includes use of the galleries, tables, chairs, a catering kitchen, and more. It can accommodate up to 75 guests for an intimate gathering.

History

The Academy of Music Theatre had its grand opening in February 1905 and hosted a number of popular acts until its closure in 1958. Left to deteriorate, the property was almost unrecognizable before being restored to its former glory. Reopening in 2018, it now offers a refined experience to those seeking a unique and dynamic space to hold an event.
