History

In the 1850s, an entrepreneur, John Bellows, converted a farmhouse into a hotel to accommodate travelers arriving via the Grand Trunk Railway. The current building is the fifth iteration of the Glen House, owing aesthetic inspiration to its 19th century origins.

Glen House is a 10-minute drive from Gorham and a two-hour drive from Concord. Open to the public since 1861, it resides by many local attractions such as the Mount Washington Auto Road. This is the first and oldest man-made attraction in the United States and it has been providing families with adventure for over 150 years.
