About

The legacy of bluegrass music lives on in many styles, but the musicians defining themselves in tradition uphold the stories and techniques of yesterday’s music. For more than two decades, one band doing that has been The Local Boys, a Bluegrass and Americana band based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Local Boys love music that has grown and evolved over decades—old-time, bluegrass, country, and rock ’n’ roll.

Beginning their musical journey more than two decades ago in Maryland, The Local Boys have a long tradition of celebrating the deep roots of traditional bluegrass music.

They've performed across the country at iconic events such as Merlefest, Brushy Mountain Apple Festival, Louisiana Spring Fest, Mountain Music Day Festival, Heritage and Harvest Festival, Hot Rod Power Tour, and more.
Releasing their first original ten-song album entitled Stories in 2022, The Local Boys take pride in their past as a band while also looking toward the future and all of the new opportunities that it brings. You'll love this unique style of Bluegrass!

Great way to kick off the wedding weekend!

We hired The Local Boys to play Friday night for our rehearsal dinner. It was amazing! Their correspondence prior to event was wonderful and they did exactly as they said the day off. Many guests said it was "the best rehearsal dinner they'd been too" (but I'm biased). They played a great set list and their musical ability and sound was on point! I will definitely try to see them play again and consider them for any event in the future!

These guys are solid. We had a great experience from first contact to the end of our reception. The band members are exceptionally cordial and accommodating. I would highly recommend this band for entertainment. The ceremony music was all perfectly timed thanks to Aaron's execution of my playlist. He jumped right in, having seen it for the first time, and it went off without a hitch. One of the many things that made these guys stand out for us(aside from TALENT and professionalism) is how they became part of the celebration. They smiled, cheered, and joined in on our celebration, which made us feel like we truly did have all friends and family present.

The Local Boys performed recently at our wedding reception. They were the perfect band for the setting as we had the reception in a renovated barn. The guys did a great job switching between blue grass and other genres to get the party going and keep everyone having a great time...including audience participation on the cow bell! I'd 100% recommend them for a wedding reception or any type of party.

Aaron was extremely responsive and flexible when we scheduled the event and talked about the songs for first dance and father/daughter dance. The band learned a song for us to use for the first dance (Better Together by Jack Johnson) and it turned out great.
