The Oviatt is an Art Deco-inspired wedding venue located in the once penthouse and rooftop two-level terrace in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Chic and sophisticated, this space was originally built in 1928 as a lavish penthouse for roaring 20's king, James Oviatt. Now an alluring event space with all of it's ornate and historic details and charm, couples are welcome to celebrate their love with up to 120 of their closest loved ones.
Facilities and Capacity
Defined by its opulent ambiance, The Oviatt exudes an authentic sense of old-world charm and luxury. Inside the penthouse couples will find a study, living room for gathering, a elegant bedroom used typically as a "getting ready room," and a true art deco bar and cocktial lounge. The two-story rooftop terrace is typically where nuptial festivities and the culinary experience takes place.
Interior features include Lalique glass decor, mahogany furniture, parquet wood floors, and many carved woodworks. Despite a seemingly niche aesthetic, the rooms have a high degree of flexibility for you to incorporate your own sense of style. Outside, the terrace is spacious and provides panoramic views of Downtown Los Angeles surrounded by city lights.
The event team is happy to erect a tent on the top level when the weather calls for it.

The Oviatt has an experienced event management team that will work with attentive care to ensure your planning up to the day you say I do is as seamless as possible. These experts have the necessary experience to help you design and flawlessly execute an unforgettable milestone celebration.
When you choose to celebrate at The Oviatt, you have access to an array of event items like banquet tables and black linens. Please inquire directly if you are interested in learning more about what The Oviatt offers to it's private and wedding event hosts/guests.
While the bar programming must remain in-house, couples are welcome to bring in outside bar agencies and bartenders as long as the alcohol is purchased via The Oviatt. For culinary experiences and catering, we invite couples to tap The Oviatt event team for our preferred partner list or encourage outside catering if that is the preference.

Easy, Historic, and Beautiful!
From the moment we set up an appointment, the emails were clear (bulleted and itemized, just the way I like it!). This was important since I had no wedding planner and needed a venue that would communicate well and quickly. It helped that they were so open to our many requests, such as karaoke on the dance floor and setting up puzzles with the bartender. Never did I feel like I was burdening them, and they were so professional with these requests.
After we got the ball rolling with the communication, it was an easy process to set up the wedding and without breaking the bank too! In another space, it would have easily cost so much more.
And on the big day, ALL of our guests raved about history and beauty of the venue! We didn't even need to set up much decor. Though, it did set up a wonderful backdrop for our escape room themed wedding because, since it's a previously lived in penthouse, has many rooms for guests to go in and out.

Gabe has over 15 years experience operating event venues beginning his career at the historic Shrine Auditorium and most recently as General Manager at the Hollywood Palladium.
He founded GAB Events in 2021 to create unforgettable experiences in unique spaces, and to bring top-notch event expertise to smaller, boutique venues.
Lindsey Haskins joined The Oviatt in 2023 as their Event Director, adding 10 years of industry experience in hospitality and events to the team.
Throughout her career, she has managed events in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Shanghai with her most recent experience working as Operations & Logistics coordinator for The Hollywood Palladium and Wiltern Theater. She looks to perfect event detail and can identify operational gaps in any environment, using her background working at companies, such as, DoorDash, Anheuser-Busch, and Live Nation.
