Our Story
This beautiful farm has been in Lisa's family for generations and is home to innumerable memories and experiences. The connections made with the environment are memories that have never faded and were taught by Lisa's grandmother, who was a dairy farmer. Her grandmother and mother helped to grow Lisa's love of nature, gardening, farming, and preserving history. There was nothing quite like spending cold spring days with her grandfather tapping the maple trees for syrup, witnessing the magic of an annual trillium wildflower bloom each spring, and fishing with her grandfather and her siblings in the creeks. As a curator, Lisa's number one priority was transforming the magical property into a place where others can make lifelong memories while preserving its historical, natural state.
Trillium Creek Wedding and Event Barn sits on the land of Reinke Meadows just outside of Wausau, Wisconsin, but this particular barn hasn't always been there. In 2015, owner and founder Lisa Reinke saw the current barn at a nearby farm; this barn was nearly an exact replica of the original dairy barn on the farm used by her grandparents. As a curator of craftsmanship, Lisa couldn't bear the loss of another iconic 1890s Pomeranian barn to be sold for reclaimed lumber. She then began the arduous process of relocating the barn to its current resting place. Relocating the 100-ton barn in one piece was no small task and required the construction of a temporary bridge across the Trillium Creek. It took the crew three full days to reach its resting spot.
With the relocation complete, construction and renovations to the barn and surrounding property began in 2016. Having hosted her wedding on the property, Lisa had invaluable insights into what is required for a wedding event to happen without a hitch, especially at a rustic wedding venue. Lisa wanted to keep the authentic farmstead charm while adding all of the modern amenities people have come to expect. She kept all of the original barn boards and metal roofs to ensure the rustic exterior look and replaced the windows. Hot running water, beautiful indoor restrooms, an on-site catering kitchen, gorgeous changing rooms, and elegant lighting fixtures are just some of the things that set Trillium Creek Wedding and Event Barn apart from other barn wedding venues.
No detail was overlooked in making the Trillium Creek Wedding and Event Barn the ideal venue to host your dream wedding. From the barn's in-floor heating on the lower level, the elegantly designed bride and groom changing rooms, to the stunning landscaping and up-cycling of antiques, we are positive you will never want to leave once you step foot onto the property. There is even a fire pit behind the barn, with our signature up-cycled furniture overlooking the lush Wisconsin fields, forests, and creek, perfect for a s'mores bar.
Other additions include a multi-functional covered pavilion adjacent to the barn perfect for the cocktail hour and outdoor games, with a bar made from lumber harvested from the woods and charming up-cycled benches for guests to relax. The covered pavilion is an additional option for the ceremony location. And there are endless specially curated photography locations around the venue—including a handmade bridge across Trillium Creek!
While our wedding season stretches from May to October, the work never stops at Trillium Creek. During the off-season, Lisa and her family are hard at work, making improvements based on customer feedback. Making your wedding day special is paramount, and your feedback is invaluable in doing so! Our motto is "Honoring the Past, Creating YOUR Future!" We hope to see you soon!
