The UAW Conference Center just may be the biggest hidden gem Michigan has to offer! My family has had several cabins on Black Lake since my Grandma was a young girl so we are very familiar with the area and I actually worked as a waitress at the UAW Golf Club a few summers ago and loved it so much I decided to see if I could host my wedding reception here!

It is SO beautiful...the golf course, the lake, the buildings, everything! There are so many wonderful accommodation options from newly renovated apartments and condos to the original lodging at the Old Lodge that has a beautiful view of Black Lake.

It is also very affordable to rent the various venue options at the Conference Center. They have a variety of venues, all beautiful in their own way, but we just love the view from the Dining Hall so we have chosen that space for our reception (we are having a church wedding beforehand).

The Event Coordinator Cindy is AMAZING! I worked with her predecessor for a few weddings at the Golf Club who was just as fabulous and it is so wonderful to know we are in such good hands for our big day! The only hiccup is the property is owned and maintained by the UAW so it took much longer to sign our contract than I would have liked as the UAW gets first dibs on all venues and accommodations, but Cindy did all she could to get it to me as soon as she got the okay from the Union!

I will update this review after our June wedding, but I have been so very impressed and working with Cindy has been so wonderful already.

We cannot express fully our appreciation for the care and attention we received last weekend ( May 6th thru 8th). Everyone was so attentive in making sure everything was clean and shiny (and that was quite a feat as we had two sets of twins with dirty hands and lots of sandy clothes). The entire crew just went out of their way to see that our daughter had what she needed and where she needed it. You made it so comfortable (and effortless for the family)! UAW Black Lake is a beautiful facility. Our family experienced scholarship (back when it was two whole weeks) and subsequently camped there for the next 30 years. Our grandchildren now camp with us and are enjoying the facility. Thank you for maintaining the buildings and grounds in the manner that you do. Black Lake is a special place and thanks to all of the caring people who work there, it will stay that way.
