About
I was born and raised in Australia. When I met my wife, Stacy, while working in an orphanage in South Africa, things changed and I followed her back to her hometown in California.
In July 2006, we got married in Santa Cruz, California. Three years later, in July 2009, our daughter, Havyn, was born. By God's goodness, these two people have turned the direction of my life upside down for the better. If you had asked me when I was twenty-one if I would be where I am, doing what I am doing, I would have laughed at you. I feel so blessed to have the family that I have and the work that I do.
I often get asked why I photograph weddings and I think the answer is simple. I like them. Really, what's not to like? Two people, who are madly in love, embarking on the journey of their lives. You see, like so many photographers, I started out by photographing landscapes that were in my backyard. But when I left Australia and moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, to pursue aide work in an orphanage, there was no longer a beach to photograph. So, my love for photography grew to a new level as I discovered a new subject, humanity. Not just people, but emotions, connections and relationships. I found I could tell deep and meaningful stories by pressing the shutter. Whether it was joy, love, endearment, hardship, faith, sorrow, despair, loss or hope, it all moved me greatly because it was real.
Every wedding that I have gone to, and I've been to a lot, has a real story. It doesn't matter if it's on the beach, in a vineyard, in the city or in a backyard. Whether it's twenty people or five hundred people, simple or extravagant. It doesn't matter because at the core of every wedding, it's so real to witness two people, declaring their love for each other. I love capturing that.
Cheers!
Scott
