Sedona and nature go hand-in-hand. The city is encompassed by 1.8 million acres of forests broken by the soaring red rocks that pierce both the landscape and sky. Such an awe-inducing topography is ideal for the adventurous couple or for those that want to celebrate their wedding in a memorable setting.

Days Under Turquoise Skies

Nestled at the bottom of Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, the town, has a romantic origin story. In 1902, Theodore Schnelbly petitioned for the area to have a post office. When choosing the name for the new town he decided to use his beloved wife’s. Before this, the city’s storied past goes back hundreds if not thousands of years. Sites demonstrating this past include the ruins of Palatki, dating to between 1150 and 1350, and the Montezuma Castle National Monument. Today, the city features an array of venues for you to choose from, many of which embrace the landscape. Golf clubs and vineyards are among the many options, as well as the usual hotels and resorts. During the day, outdoor locales offer vistas of the vibrant and richly hued terrain and at night are blanketed by the dazzling lights from millions of stars.

Prescott, Arizona: Another Locale in the Grand Canyon State

Prescott is a lively city located an hour and 20 minutes by car from Sedona and an alternative option for hosting your wedding. In the downtown area is Whiskey Row, which is known for its music spots and popular bars. Museums also dot the cityscape, documenting and preserving the history of the original peoples and pioneers. After enjoying what the city has to offer you can embrace the natural sites, such as the Watson and Goldwater Lakes. Prescott thus balances urban and nature, offering couples a little of everything.

A Haven for Being Outdoors

Couples are in luck in the Grand Canyon State, as warm temperatures mark much of the year in this city located in central Arizona. Most rainfall occurs in the month of August while June is the driest. During January, the coldest time of the year, temperatures dip down to an average of 41.7 degrees Farhernheit. In contrast, the temperature rises to an average 79 degrees Fahrenheit in July. Overall, this temperate climate is well suited for outdoor gatherings, making it easy to enjoy the sights while exchanging your vows.
