Exactly What We Were Looking For
2016 Main and its staff turned out to be inimitable pieces of what made our wedding absolutely perfect. From the very first meeting with its dutiful and accommodating owner, all through the assisted planning and design processes, to the last time we shook hands at the conclusion of our joyous reception, this venue served as a modern yet versatile space that gave us senses of both security and excitement for the big day.
My wife and I were fortunate enough to reserve 2016 Main for both our ceremony and reception. Nicolas, new yet experienced management, worked in a flawless balance to oversee the integration of 2016 Main's top-notch sound system with our DJs. Bar packages including staff worked with the venue through his company, Sidecar Cocktail Catering Co. The owner also facilitated discounts through a professional partnership with Brancato's Catering. Lot parking, private security, vendor coordination, you name it. Any time that we had questions, Nicolas had solutions.

Dreamy artistic wedding at 2016 Main
2016 Main was the perfect venue for our wedding ceremony and reception in Nov. 2022. Pat and Jodi, the venue owners, were an absolute pleasure to work with from the beginning, and my husband-to-be and I felt an instant connection with them. We used Elite Sounds for the DJ, by Pat's recommendation, and they were also an amazing choice, who knew the venue well, and the sound system was great for isolating the music when need-be on the dance floor so that others in the other part of the venue could hear better. Pat provided great recommendations as we planned for the day, including how to set up the tables (squares vs. rounds), tablecloths, wine/beer selections, where to set up the food/buffet, parking, etc. He knows his venue, and it was great to have someone we could trust. We were able to get in at 10:30 a.m. in the morning, and were out before midnight, and the day was a breeze because of all of our coordination. Pat was responsive, easy to work with and available on the day, and utterly kind throughout the process. We even had a mishap with one of our floating vases on the floor after the ceremony (someone tripped and it broke and spilled!) and he caused no major fuss and he and his team cleaned it right up. The venue itself is also stunning – from the greenery wall, to the brick walls that can be customized with artwork of your own to the white 3D wall perfect for photo-ops – and Pat was amenable to all of our ideas as we were developing our "aesthetic." Beautiful Space & Amazing, Flexible Owners
You can stop looking for a venue - 2016 Main is IT!! When we first walked in to this space, I knew right away that I wanted to get married there! It is STUNNING. Exposed brick, hardwood floors, greenery wall, gorgeous decorative white wall, artwork...you name it, they've got it! You probably didn't realize that you want a collage wall filled with formal dog portraits at your wedding, but I can assure you that YOU DO, and 2016 Main has it! We loved this space for so many reasons, but a big deciding factor was because we didn't have to rent any extras! I'm not exaggerating when I say that all we did was add flowers and votives on the tables, rent some linens, and the space looked fully decorated and GORGEOUS! My pictures are beautiful and so so elegant! The owners, Pat and Jodi, will forever be 2 of my very favorite people. They are SO MUCH FUN! They are laid back and will make you feel relaxed and at ease, while also being extremely attentive, focused on details, and quick to communicate. I sent Pat so many questions and changed so many things, and he was always so great about it and responded right away! Pat also acted as our day-of-coordinator. He contacted all of my vendors and arranged everything. I didn't get peppered with any last minute questions from vendors and everyone showed up on time and had everything we needed! Everyone always says that something will go wrong on your wedding day, but honestly, I can't think of ANYTHING that went wrong, and I know that that is in major part due to all of Pat and Jodi's help and planning both leading up to the big day, as well as their assistance the day of! I can't stop re-living the day and looking at our pictures of the venue. Now that the wedding is over, I'm honestly trying to think up a reason to rent the space all over again just to have an excuse to hang out with Pat and Jodi and be surrounded by so much elegance and beauty again. In case I didn't drive the point home, THIS is the venue you want and THESE are the people you want helping you plan! Make your appointment ASAP and go ahead and cancel the others...this is the only space you'll need to see. The best venue in KC!
2016 Main was the best decision I made for our wedding! Pat and Jodi are a dream to work with; even my guests commented on how great they were at the wedding and how hard they were working alongside their staff. The space is beautiful with so many unique touches. I still can't get over how many compliments we received by guests who were saying it's the coolest space they have ever been for a wedding! The location is amazing as well. We had a lot of guests traveling in from out of town and there are many hotels within walking distance, along with plenty of bars and restaurants, which makes it convenient for everyone. I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. I highly highly recommend using 2016 main for your event!!!2016 Main was the best decision I made for our wedding! Dream wedding despite covid-19
We would give 2016 Main 100 stars if we could. The space itself is stunning and has so many different vibes: from the white squares wall to the brick to the greenery wall, there are a variety of backdrops for photos or different vendors. We loved the elegant yet urban feel. Bar service was so quick and all of our guests loved their drinks. They made the room flip from ceremony to the reception a breeze. We loved picking out artwork from their collection to hang as extra decor on the walls too. The location is perfect with easy access to hotels right across the street, ample parking in back, and streetcar access. But most of all, the owner (Pat) was absolutely incredible working with us on changes due to covid-19. From scaling down our wedding size to adjusting the timeframe the week of our wedding due to new city restrictions, he made everything so easy despite all-time high stress levels. He made sure we still had the wedding of our dreams despite all the changes announced by the city mere days before our event. The day-of coordinator made sure everything flowed perfectly, from lighting a million candles on the tables to queuing the bridal party processional. We truly have zero complaints or regrets about 2016 Main. In fact, we originally wanted a different month for our wedding date, but ended up picking our wedding date based on 2016 Main’s availability after falling in love with the space on a tour. Little did we know that would be the best decision we made in wedding planning. We 110% recommend this venue!We would give 2016 Main 100 stars if we could. Beautiful venue and Seamless Customer Service
This venue and the owners are everything that you could want in a wedding venue.
We had to reschedule our Jamaican wedding and plan a Kansas City wedding in about 6 months. Pat and his wife Jodi gave us recommended vendors.. and let me just say.. not a single one failed to deliver. They were all fantastic, and we couldn't have found more perfect fits for the venue (vendor wise). So take their advice!
They were professional, but also warm, inviting, and friendly. And can I say cool? Like you'll want to be friends with them. Ha!
They were able to adjust to our needs and made everything so easy for us. For a stressed-out bride.. I'd prescribe Pat and Jodi, and all at 2016 Main Event Space & Art Gallery as your right-hand crew.
You will get exactly what you want, and exactly what you paid for.
Just to give you an example.. for our bar package we wanted a signature drink requiring raspberry tea. Well.. pat couldn't find any raspberry tea at the store, so he BREWED HIS OWN with fresh iced tea and raspberries! OK, no one gives this kind of customer service anymore. Just an example of the extra mile that they will go for you.
And as a last note- if you want a contemporary, quirky, modern, yet classic and antique feel for a venue.. this is it. Look no further! All elements are there for a perfect Ceremony and Reception space.This venue and the owners are everything that you could want in a wedding venue.

Fantastic in all areas
The space is gorgeous. The pricing is as clear and inclusive as you could want. Pat and Jodi were really nice and super helpful every step of the way. They were really flexible and even helped resolve issues with other vendors. Plus they threw in free extras along the way. Could not have asked for a better experience. 2016 Main is amazing! We had our reception here this past weekend and couldn’t be happier with things. Jodi and Pat were awesome to work with from day one. We had both our ceremony and reception at 2016 Main, and the experience was so smooth. No one noticed the clean-up from one to the other, and we got so many compliments on the venue! Book it! This place was amazing. From the moment I walked in I loved the space- but after meeting with the owners Pat & Jodi- I knew we had to have our reception there! They were so great to work with and so flexible with me. The space is well kept and the bar space is fantastic! Also bathrooms are big and in great condition since the venue is fairly new. The only thing is it is a touch tight on space! We had about 170 guests and it was a little bit tight to get around the tables- but other than that everything was absolutely perfect about it!Book it! 2016 Main is the perfect event space! We had our wedding reception there. The space itself is stunning. We only had to decorate our tables because the venue is already nicely decorated. Not only is the space wonderful, but Pat and Jodi were AMAZING to work with during the wedding planning process. Pat made the whole experience easy and stress free. He made our day easy and perfect! Pat was flexible, reliable, and always extremely helpful. Andy and I would highly recommend this venue. Absolutely amazing event space! It was so gorgeous and the art on the walls with the exposed brick made it a truly unique and wonderful place to have our reception. Pat and the rest of the staff were attentive to every detail and absolutely went above and beyond for us to make sure every last little detail was taken care of without us needing to worry about anything. You will not find a better combination of value, beauty, and great service. Pat was all about taking care of us from day one. He went above and beyond to make our night perfect and was available to speak with me, my mom, AND my aunt.. That is service. The remodeled venue is to die for- exposed brick, crossroad views, beautifully decorated bar with romantic candles, and art pieces we got to pick, beautiful hardwoods, romantic lighting, and more. I cannot say enough about how happy I am with my experience!!! We did reception only here and chose an alcohol package. All our vendors were able to meet with us there before the wedding which was hugely helpful. It was a warm evening and the air conditioning works perfectly. There was never a line at the bar or the bathroom- yay! I got so many compliments on this venue from guests. So happy after researching EVERY venue in Kansas City I chose 2026 Main. Thanks Pat!! Pat at 2016 Main was great to work with. He was responsive whenever we had questions and was always available. The space was great for our ceremony and reception with 90 guests. The room flip was smooth and they were available for all of our questions and needs the day of our wedding. We weren't able to rehearse in the space as they booked a Friday night wedding, they offered a Thursday night rehearsal, but that wasn't feasible for us as most people were traveling in on Friday.Pat at 2016 Main was great to work with. He was responsive whenever we had questions and was always available. The space was great for our ceremony and reception with 90 guests. The room flip was smooth and they were available for all of our questions and needs the day of our wedding. We weren't able to rehearse in the space as they booked a Friday night wedding, they offered a Thursday night rehearsal, but that wasn't feasible for us as most people were traveling in on Friday. -

Do Not Book
We do not recommend 2016 Main. I’m not one to write reviews, but feel compelled to share with other couples so they do not have an experience like we did. Due to Covid, we had to postpone our wedding. At the time, we were under a city ordnance that mandated no large gatherings allowed. 2016 Main at first acted as if they would be flexible given this. Then, as the situation in KC grew worse, we were then told we could only move our wedding to the available date we wanted if we paid an additional 1,000 dollars. We understand that this is a hard time for all and that businesses are struggling during this time, but we didn’t appreciate the bait and switch, especially as we heard from other venues that they were not charging to change dates due to the pandemic. Further, we were told by 2016 Main that all venues were upcharging their couples to move dates, which was not true. Still, we were willing to work with him if they would meet us halfway. Instead they double downed. We were given the option to do a winter wedding (we have an outdoor ceremony at another location so that wouldn’t work) or a July date which we could not do due to our friends’ wedding dates. They didn’t want us to have a June wedding because they wanted to leave it open for new weddings because it would be more profitable for them. They chose profit over helping their current customers, which was a poor move. We then began looking at other venues, more than 5 others all that told us they were allowing their couples to pick any available date to move their weddings with no upcharge. We would like 2016 Main to recognize that if they had been more understanding and compassionate from the get go, they could have kept us as customers and avoided a poor review. In the future, kindness and understanding will always win. To add to things, they also charge an extra $800 for “taxes” which is a huge extra cost and one they said all venues in the crossroads charge. We asked the other venues we later toured if the $800 tax was included because we were told all venues charged this. People at the other venues in the Crossroads looked at us like we were crazy and said this was not a thing. Just another example of how we were misled. Why? Pat, the owner, was always polite but throughout the whole process we felt he tried to guilt us for asking for our deposit back for a service he would be unable to provide- a 180 person wedding that could not occur due to the city ordinance and was unwilling to let us pick our date without charging an extra 1,000 dollars. We do not wish ill will towards businesses during this time. But we really are disappointed that this didn’t workout better, especially since the venue is beautiful and at the start the people running it seemed promising. We hope they can learn from this so other couples have a better experience. 2016 Main, put your customers first ALWAYS. A pandemic is not something you could have prepared for, but this could have gone differently. ALL our wedding vendors have been so incredibly kind and flexible given this crazy situation. We ended up getting a lawyer involved and he still refused to give us our refund back even though we were not able to have our wedding according to our guest count that was promised in the contract. In the end he offered us 500 dollars to not speak badly about him or the venue. We chose to stick to our ethics and voice our experience. On a purely economic standpoint, you can find venues that are far less expensive and just as if not more beautiful and in great locations in the crossroads and in KC. Look for a venue that allows you to bring in your own alcohol and does not charge you for not using his DJ. This will save tons! Even by not getting our 2500 deposit back, we are still saving a significant amount of money by switching venues. Good Luck! I hope you find your perfect venue for your special day!

Amazingly beautiful venue!! Too bad I can't give the same review towards the sub par professionalism and business with the owner Pat. I was a coordinator for a wedding at this location. His entire disposition was smug and unprofessional from the very second we stepped into the venue on the wedding day. He kept having verbal run ins with the parents. I tried to intervene asking Pat to please communicate through me to avoid perpetuating current issues. I relayed to him his aura and energy was off and causing riffs with the family. He went on to talk about a scenario that occured with the father of the bride that morning calling his wife Jodi to say all tables were not ready and available like it was agreed upon. He said the conversation upset her and she called him crying. Which led him to show up to the venue with bad energy. He said with everything going on all he could see was a poor review coming. Myself as well as the father of the bride said please don't treat us as such. Treat us like the paying customers we are. I stated that things happen and with him being a business owner he should know to conduct himself in a more professional manner.
Dad of the bride tried to smooth things over with a hand shake- Pat half way shook his hand back while making underhanded comments under his breath. I told him it's that energy right there which is what's causing the family to respond to him the way they are. The bride got wind of what was happening and got upset to the point of tears then asked if Pat could please leave. After he left it got better! His set up guy Scott was amazing! So accomodating. He was super friendly with good vibes. It wasn't until after the ceremony we encountered Pat again who I saw walking around the reception clearing off tables cleaning up people's plates-Which wasnt asked of him nor was it his job to do. During the reception I saw him throwing people's drinks away while they were on the dance floor. I know for a fact, because every time I came back to my table my drink was gone and he was the only one walking around cleaning. Mind you, the venue was reserved until 1130- midnight and he was witnessed removing decorations and cleaning 2-3 hrs before the scheduled time to be out of the venue. Eventually, we saw him blowing candles out on tables etc. Something was said to him by one of the moms about this which spiraled into another verbal altercation that came very close to a physical altercation as he called the bride's brother out of his name. At this point guest are mostly gone the reception is shutting down and we are starting to clean up. There were real live flowers in his faux grass wall that a florist decorated. Pat removed the flowers and threw them on the floor as trash. He Didn't bother to perserve them for the couple nor ask what exactly they wanted done with them. There was an elaborate dessert table at the wedding. We housed extra desserts in Pat's kitchen. While cleaning we noticed several of those paid food items thrown in the trash by him. All of this is unacceptable! It's also all so very unfortunate becquse this space is beautiful. When we reflected on the day, we all were in agreement it went off without a hitch EXPECT for the stresses from Pat. If you consider this venue please read all reviews and be prepared for whatever's to come because one minute he's hot next he's cold.
