We cannot say enough gray things about Melanie!! She was absolutely wonderful to work with. So helpful and so nice! Always answered my questions very quickly. She stayed out of the way but still managed to get some amazing shots! We did both our engagement photos and wedding photos with her and both times we got a preview of the pictures that night / next day! We got all 1300 of our wedding photos back in 5 days! We highly recommend Melanie! -

Couldn’t have been any better
The smartest thing I ever did was hire Always In Focus Photography. Melanie was very nice, professional, reasonable, and accommodating. Picking a wedding photographer is hard when there’s so many choices. Melanie offers very reasonable pricing and honestly I don’t think anyone could’ve done a better job (even if I was paying thousands of dollars more). We booked Melanie for 8 hours and it was great. Our engagement photos were included and came out beautiful. The day of the wedding Melanie showed up on time (even though we just had a snowstorm). You never would have known Melanie was even there taking pictures. She was not disruptive to our night at all and got a ton of great shots- both posed and candid shots. My guests all loved that she brought out the tv screen and had a slideshow of some of the pictures already! When the night was over it took about 4 days to get ALL of our pictures (over 900 total)! Melanie was very fast and everything came out great!! We highly recommend booking her for your wedding and if you go elsewhere and/ or spend more on a photographer you’re missing out! -

The review title says it all. Melanie took amazing pictures and had a preview for us less than 24 hours after the wedding ended. She was extremely professional, organized, and responsive throughout the entire process. The photos were beautiful. We wanted mostly candids, and she really came through. Non-invasive but present. 10/10 experience. -

Great Experience with Melanie
We hired Melanie for our original wedding in October 2020 and when we postponed she was very responsive and was willing to change dates to 2021. We talked to her a few times since we lived in a different state, but she knew exactly what we were looking for. She was on time, very focused and spent a lot of time with me and my bridal party. We were so happy to have her around. She took so many pictures of our special day and was so quick to send them to us so we could share with our friends and family. We had such an amazing day and she helped bring the memories back to us so we could live in the moment! Thank you Melanie! -

Highly Recommend!
Melanie was our photographer for our 9/25/21 wedding. She absolutely nailed it! We LOVE our pictures, and I was floored by how beautifully she captured our wedding. She took pictures of every one and everything!
It was awesome to feel like we didn't miss out on a single detail. Her turn-around time was insanely fast too, we had our entire album available via online link within 5 days!!! Wow!!! She also sent us the first 100 or so pictures the very next day so we could enjoy them immediately (and while we were still riding the wave of happiness and joy!) Highly, highly recommend! -

Melanie was fabulous! She handled the chaos of my Covid wedding very professionally. She captured informal moments that I will cherish forever. Although she photographed EVERYTHING, I hardly noticed her throughout the ceremony and reception. The turn around time for pictures was under a week. I would highly recommend! -

25% of pics out of focus. Limited creativity. Had to suggest shots. Few really great shots. VERY disappointing. Would never recommend. Photo attached was most important to wife and it was all blurry!Always in Focus Photography's reply:
Thank you for your review. As we discussed when you emailed me, you did receive all images from the day by mistake, including the ones that should have been deleted. Many photographers take 1000's of photos on a wedding day and delete the ones that are blurry,have eyes closed etc. You received at least 600 great photos from the day. It is always important to discuss the style of photos that you prefer with your photographer, which is something you did not choose to do until AFTER the wedding. I market myself as a traditional, budget photographer upfront. I am open to take all types of "creative" images is time allow, which it did not for your photography package or the events you had for your wedding day. I also have never had a complaint in the 3 years I've been taking photos. In fact, my email box is full of very positive reviews from all of the weddings I have done. That being said, I find that many people only take to public forums when they want to complain, not compliment, which your wife also did by leaving a negative review for the bridal shop where she purchased her gown. You also said her favorite photo from the day was one she took with her cell phone, however, her Facebook profile picture is a photo I took therefore I think she was happy with the photos. -

Very disappointed
Always in focus photography
I used Melanie with Always in Focus Photography for my wedding, and I would no recommend using her. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my pictures as well as her lack of interest on the day of.
When meeting with Melanie to do an engagement shoot I explained to her my desire to take pictures from angles that helped elongate my face and gave me the best possible opportunity for a flatter pictures as I am not exactly photogenic and I don’t have the face of a 20-year old 🤣. During the engagement shoot she did a good job telling us to fix the angles of our face, fix our posture and took pictures from different angles and positions to capture our best features and I was pleased. So we let go of our previously booked photographer and hired Always in Focus. Prior to the wedding I again reminded Melanie of this concern.
On the wedding day, Melanie seemed almost annoyed to be present. Now I do understood that on my wedding day, the rain was ridiculous, and relentless, but this is something as a photographer I feel like you should be able to adjust to and make the best out of it, and I do not feel Melanie is equipped to do so. She really struggled to come up with pictures that would account for the rain, or get creative in any way. The only pictures not taken standing up at eye level were pictures I had to request. There were no pictures taken from an elevated surface or even sitting down unless I suggested it. She did not account for the large height difference of my bridesmaids and put someone almost 6ft tall next to someone under 5 foot, even after one of the girls asked he not to. She did not address or even bring up the shears that had fallen behind my head table, so all of my pictures have one falling down shear. There was exactly zero creativity or interaction throughout the event. I did not get pictures of our rings, a picture with my kids, a picture of the groom with his best man, pictures of the whole hall, pictures of our tables, etc. etc. I feel like Melanie feels more comfortable, setting herself up in front of the selfie booth and taking pictures of the guests.
When I attempted to address this with Melanie, she was less than accommodating. I told her my husband and I were willing to do a sort of reverse, sneak peek get re-dressed up to take a few formal pictures at a later time so that we would have something to hang out our wall or would request a partial refund, so we can hire another photographer to accommodate this request. She then responded to me that she had nothing available from October 10 through Christmas and she does not take pictures in the winter so she could not accommodate this request until the spring (a lot can change in 6 months). I then sent Melanie multiple emails, letting her know that this was unacceptable of which she declined to respond, until I indicated I would take her to small claims court. At this point she responded that she had fulfilled her contractual obligations so I did not have a case, a wedding day is not a photo shoot and that she did not feel I would be happy with anything. At that point I realized going back and forth was useless and decided to post my experience so that hopefully others will not have this same experience. -
