Amy was absolutely wonderful! First, our engagement photos: Amy was really creative in getting us hundreds of beautiful shots, and was even able to work with including our husky in the photos! Amy had so many good ideas for us that our shoot lasted over 2 hours. Once we got the photos back, I knew we had made the best decision for our photographer, and I was incredibly excited for our wedding day!

Once we got the photos back, I knew we had made the best decision for our photographer, and I was incredibly excited for our wedding day!

On the day of our wedding, Amy arrived early and stayed with us during the very busy day. Our wedding party took a limo bus to different locations throughout Detroit to get some group shots, and they are so beautiful that I want to cry tears of happiness every time I look at them! We have a wonderful mix of candid and posed photos of our wedding party, ceremony, and reception. The day was a whirlwind for me, so when we got our photos (there were over 1200 of them!!!),

Her pricing is really affordable and averaged $1000 less than photographers in Detroit who aren't nearly as talented!

If I had to make a suggestion, it would be that the shot list is printed in advance and marked off as group photos are taken, rather than reviewed electronically. There were a few group photos on our list that were overlooked because some people weren't ready at the right time, and we never got back to them. If we had been able to cross them off as we went, it would have avoided mistakes. Another thing I would have liked is more photos of wedding guests (posed and candid) just having fun. We have some, but the bride & groom are in most of them, and it would have been captured the good times everyone else was having during our reception that just flew by. But those are minor. In the end, we have an arsenal of amazing pictures and have received raving compliments. Thanks, Amy!! :)

I originally was only concerned about price. My fiance was convinced that engagement pictures were a waste of money, so to win the debate I was determined to find someone who did the engagement shoot for free while still having an overall reasonable fee. After a quick search on WW I was so excited to find Amy's profile. Her photography style was exactly what I wanted (journalistic as opposed to staged poses), her price was excellent, and she threw in the engagement session for free. Once we met with her it was a done deal. She was very friendly, easy to work with, professional, and her contract was simple and easy to understand. Also you get full rights to the digital photos once they're done so that was a plus.

After our wedding we got so many compliments from our guests about how amazing our photographer was. In fact, one of my bridesmaids was recently engaged and was hoping to book Amy too but unfortunately the dates didn't work out - she's now using Amy as her standard for judging other potential photographers.

During the group photos she was extremely efficient, and the rest of the day she seemed to be everywhere at once but never in the way. I was originally a little concerned about the lighting she uses for the dancing shots, since it lights up the whole room and I thought the flashes would be distracting. But it wasn't noticeable in the slightest and the pictures turned out GREAT! We are so happy :)

My husband and I have loved our time working with Amy and our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without her. She’s such a talented photographer and it makes it that much sweeter that she’s also such a genuine person. She listens to what you like and can capture every single moment in such detail that you’re reliving your special day every time you see a photo. We had her do our engagement pictures and she’ll photograph when we grow a family as well. She is so easy to work with and everything is simply natural and so beautiful when working with her. Amy stepped in for our wedding when our other photographer canceled 3 months prior to the big day. Needless to say, I couldn't be more grateful that Amy was the one to capture our special day. For one, she met all of our needs, and catered to us, knowing that we were stressed out and pressed for time. Amy also catered to our style perfectly. Poor communication, 6 month turn around on wedding pics

I am writing this as both a bride and a wedding planner that worked with Amy this last year.

It saddens me to write this and give this rating bc I really liked Amy as a person and was excited to work with her. However, my experiences with her over the last year, timeliness, communication, and quality of photos for both myself and the bride I worked for both warrant a 1 star rating.

It took me 5 months and 3 weeks to receive my wedding photos, it took her over 6 months to receive hers!! In both cases there are a lot of good photos....but there are a lot of not so good ones....

I am writing this as both a bride and a wedding planner that worked with Amy this last year.

It saddens me to write this and give this rating bc I really liked Amy as a person and was excited to work with her. However, my experiences with her over the last year, timeliness, communication, and quality of photos for both myself and the bride I worked for both warrant a 1 star rating.

It took me 5 months and 3 weeks to receive my wedding photos, it took her over 6 months to receive hers!! In both cases there are a lot of good photos....but there are a lot of not so good ones. I have not 1 family photo where everyone’s eyes are open, many of our photos are eyes closed, mouths open, bridesmaids looking at the ground while walking down the aisle. I only had 1-3 options for those moments but 20 options of my ugly laughing during speeches, so in general not worth the 5+ months of waiting to see my special day. For her photos there are a lot of underwear lines, belly button holes, funny faced moment and double chin shots that left her disappointed with the quality and 6 months of waiting.

I think Amy is amazingly talented her gallery is beautiful, I hired her bc of her talent, but it honestly feel that she has stretched herself too thin this last year and that her heart is not in it and her brides are paying the consequence of that through long waits, poor communication, and disappointment with their final result. I would not recommend hiring her if you are a Columbus bride, it was completely disheartening to see couples that were married months after me share their photos months before I even saw a single one from mine. It was a total crush to not have 1 good photo of our family, and when I emailed to ask for her to look through her options to see if there was one with everyone’s eyes open, that I received no response...although I am honestly not surprised based on the quality of communication or lack of I’ve had with her over the last year.

Disappointing and exhausting

Working with Amy was by far the worst the part of our planning our wedding, which saddens me extremely because we had received multiple recommendations to work with her, and were always in awe of her photos. The short story is while Amy is very talented, she is extremely difficult to work with. It's a very stressful time for any couple, and you should only be paying people that are there to help you make the process easier. Additionally, almost all of our other vendors had similar comments and the day of the wedding her attitude was as if she didn't want to be there. After the wedding it took 7 months to receive our photos after being told first, 8 weeks, then 3 months. Only months after no communication did she begin responding and then it took 2 additional months to receive our photos. There are several other photographers that are just as talented for the same price that will get your photos within a reasonable amount of time and will be easy to work with and delight on the day of your wedding.

The long story is, our wedding was August 31, 2019. In October of 2018 it came time to schedule our engagement shoot. It took Amy 3 weeks and multiple follow ups to respond to scheduling the shoot. She had so little communication with us, the day of the shoot we weren't even sure she was still coming. She told us 2-5 weeks max until we would receive our photos. Instead it took 8 weeks. She was unresponsive to status update requests and we almost didn't have a picture to send out our save the dates with.

Amy never reached out the weeks prior to the wedding. The day of the wedding Amy's attitude was as if she didn't want to be there. She was rude to our bridal party and most of our vendors had similar comments. Nothing about her being our photographer made taking our pictures comfortable and she did nothing to make the day happier as you would expect your vendors to do.

The day of the wedding she quoted a 8 weeks. After about 10 weeks and hearing nothing, we reached out, where I was told she did not say 8 weeks and never would have because it normally takes around 3 months.....3 months seemed on the long end of the range as other vendors had quoted us 6-10 weeks, but I just wanted my photos so I didn't argue. After 3 months, we reached out again and crickets. Weeks went by where we heard nothing after multiple follow ups. We were anxious, the period of being excited about getting the photos and celebrating them had completely passed and frankly, we were worried she had lost them altogether. Finally she responded with excuse after excuse pushing out when we would receive our photos by weeks at a time. We finally received them 7 months after our wedding (married in August, received in march). While they were beautiful, every comment from anyone we shared them with was "I can't believe you are just now receiving these". It completely took the joy of sharing them with anyone away. Not once did we ever receive an apology for the way she conducted herself or the sheer tardiness in receiving our photos.

To re-iterate, this is supposed to be the happiest time of a couple's lives, and every bride and groom deserves vendors that will make the process easier. That is NOT Amy. I will never recommend her. She was by far the worst vendor we worked with, and I hope every bride out there has a better experience than the disappointing one we had with Amy.

Unfulfilled Contract

Roughly 8 months after our wedding, we still do not have our photos. Amy also flaked on engagement photos last summer, so we never had any taken. She routinely says she’ll send them “this weekend” or “by Tuesday” but the deadlines come and go with no follow through.

We wholeheartedly regret hiring Amy as our photographer and would not recommend her to anyone. Dealing with Amy was extremely frustrating as she is the queen of excuses. Missed deadlines were never her fault even though the deadlines were set by her. We didn’t get our teaser/preview pictures until 3 months after the wedding, and it was only 3 pictures. We didn’t get our wedding pictures until ~130 days after the wedding, and we only received 535 pictures which was ~35% below the minimum specified in our contract (contract stated we would receive 800 – 1600 pictures). When we addressed this with Amy she said she likely had 200-300 more pictures to send us. Why didn’t she send them...

This can only mean she either didn’t care what the final product looked like or she likely didn’t even quality control her own edits. When we scheduled a phone conversation to discuss our disappointment with the quality of the photos, Amy mentioned that she skipped over two other couples’ wedding photos that were married before us just to finish ours (I felt worse for those poor people because they probably have waited longer than us). She also said that she would re-edit the pictures within 1 week, which to no one’s surprise took 3 weeks. The only thing that was consistent with her was missed deadlines. My husband ended up editing a lot of the photos himself which turned out to be better than what Amy sent us. Save yourself the headache and disappointment and choose a different photographer!

Stay away, unprofessional

I would NOT recommend Amy Peppercorn Photography. The entire process from start to finish was frustrating, unprofessional, unexpected, and EXHAUSTING. The last thing I wanted for my big day was to have to worry if my photographer was going to show up, or if I was ever going to get my pictures due to the horrible communication.
It seems as if there’s was always “reason/excuse” every time. I would NOT recommend Amy Peppercorn Photography. The entire process from start to finish was frustrating, unprofessional, unexpected, and EXHAUSTING. The last thing I wanted for my big day was to have to worry if my photographer was going to show up, or if I was ever going to get my pictures due to the horrible communication.
It seems as if there’s was always “reason/excuse” every time. Whether it was her traveling out of the country, tires getting slashed, internet going out, not getting sneak peaks until week 7 after having to ask a couple times, telling me she would send me more pictures once she got to a coffee shop and never receiving them, not getting my pictures within the 6-8 weeks as she stated, or taking 2+ weeks to respond to my emails or not responding at all.
The worst part is the pictures taken did not capture my day as I expected. There were some amazing shots, don’t get me wrong. But she didn’t even get me walking down the isle. Many pictures were out of focus, and her pre-set she used on all of the photo’s turned me orange(I’m fair skinned to begin with). I had to ask for this to be fixed and she did fix some of them, but a lot of them ended up turning out green or an off color. (All my pictures from family and friends camera’s I looked fine in, so I’m assuming it’s the preset used).

Lastly, she was not pleasant at the wedding. I was embarrassed because family and friends came up to me saying she was rude and bossy throughout the night to all the guests. She also kept air pods in her ears the entire night from start to finish (ceremony included) which I thought was very unprofessional.

For paying the thousands of dollars I spent, I would’ve expected better customer service, and also someone who was able to communicate with me. I also asked for some money back 3 times due to the delay in getting my pictures 10 weeks after my wedding, and was ignored every time. We had to wait to pay her the other 50% until she arrived at the venue because we were worried she wasn’t going to come.

Save your money, and book a photographer who is professional and won’t cause you stress before, during, and after your big day.
