It Truly Was "An Affair to Remember"!

Carmen was wonderful to work with from start to finish! The food was excellent, her staff was pleasant and professional and the tables were set to perfection. Her price was very reasonable and along the way she threw in items that she had that kept us from having to purchase them. We highly recommend her and our guests would too!

Very negative experience do not recommend this place at all

They used prego canned sauce and did not deliver the dishes we requested. They had terrible service and the food was unappetizing to say the least. Would not recommend please do better!

    Brides beware

My parents hired Carmen in February on 2021 for my wedding on November 6th, 2021 and it is the biggest regret we have all made. I have never in my entire life of living seen a caterer or any business send a text insulting the Brides choice of wedding dress saying she wonders why no one told me it was see through. Then proceed to send a creepy photo of the back of the bride that she had taken for her own personal archives without my permission showing the back of the dress. I was fully aware of how my dress looked as I bought it for that specific reason and received tons of compliments. This came directly after I contacted her asking for a refund because she charged me for an additional amount of people we never even ended up having. She pressured me into giving her a guest count before I got all my RSVP’s back and then proceeded to play my mother and I against each other saying the a totally higher amount than either of us even had, only to get additional money. She should up an hour late the day of the wedding. The food was not at all like we tried at our tasting. The meat was very dry and hard to eat. The green beans were canned green beans, the corn was canned corn when she stated it would be sautéed with onions and peppers, we had tons of food left over that was going to be donated but our friends took it in fear that we would just be losing a lot of money. We reheated it that night as we didn’t get to eat at the wedding hardly and it was like eating tree bark it was so dry. She stated the way I had my chairs set up was ugly and proceeded to move them on the day of my wedding without my consent. The only thing ugly about my wedding was her attitude the whole day and days after. The contract states tips are not included but never mentions you have to pay a set 15%, Carmen demanded 15% from my parents to be paid before the wedding day or they would have to bring cash on the day off. She approached them after the wedding in a way that they couldn’t say no to the tips or give what they felt was a fair amount. When I asked for the refund of the additional amount charged and explained my dissatisfaction with her she very aggressively argued back and tried to claim I was blackmailing, threatening and extorting her business to get money when I very nicely told her that I was trying to be civil and not post a bad review and that I wanted to come to her directly and allow her a chance to fix everything. She lied to my mother and told her that the groom and I said the food was delicious when we never even hardly ate during the reception. When I approached her about this she lied again and said she never said that (we have email proof) she told me that I said I was very happy when she asked me how I was. Of course I was happy I was getting married to the love of my life. It sure as heck wasn’t her tree bark food that made me happy! Warning toward other brides, just go somewhere else. I have spent my entire beginning of my honeymoon angry over the service this woman preformed and arguing with her because she doesn’t want to fix what we were dissatisfied with. Lastly, she tried to say we paid her late when my mother has receipts showing she was paid in full before the date states in the contract. She approached me at the 15 day mark before my wedding demanding a final count higher than the original amount we paid for when she played my mother and I against each other. I asked her kindly to send me a new invoice because I refuse to pay anything without seeing an invoice or contract and she was paid very promptly for the additional amount plus the service charge she failed to mention to my parents on the day they paid her. She’s very manipulative. The amount including the demanded 15% in tips quickly soared to $3,100. Definitely overpay for the quality of service and terrible attitude this woman has. Update, looking back items from the stated contract we’re not provided. It was stated we were to have rice pilaf and hard & soft rolls. We had absolutely no rice at the wedding and only packaged dinner rolls that were soft.

An Affair To Remember Catering & Floral's reply:

I am sorry that this bride was not satisfied, but it had nothing to do with the food or service. She blew her budget on other things and did not want to follow the contract and pay for additional people. Her original contract was for 100 people. At 15 days; per the contract, I asked for a final count. She said 130. I sent her an invoice for the additional people. She came back and said it was 120, then she said it was 111. I contacted the venue who told me she was telling them to set-up the ceremony for 125. With 10 attendants, bride and groom, DJs, photographers, venue staff, that put her at 144. I took her at her word for the 111 and she paid for only those. She was angry that she had to pay for the 11 additional people.
As for the dress picture. I sent her pictures of the tables, her food, her guests and her dancing. I even told her she looked beautiful. As for it being see-through, it was, but that was her choice not mine. I'm sorry if the picture showed the dress in a bad light. It was a beautiful dress.
I have been in business over 10 years. I have had very happy clients. I have had a few that were not. Most of the time it's not about the food or the service, but something else entirely. It was in this case.
The bride in her review said I changed her seating because it was ugly. That was not true at all. The bride's final count was 111 people. The venue was set-up for 140. ( Just in case) I brought chargers, plates, silverware, etc. for 135 people. That was to be prepared for the extra people that I suspected she would have. I did not have place settings for all 140, so we removed the chairs at the ends of the tables to be able to make the tables even. She sent a bridesmaid and her Mother to the reception hall to demand that I put them back. I did. This caused me to plate 135 salads instead of the 111 she paid for. My bussers brought back 4 uneaten salads.
There was food prepared to feed everyone including my staff. There were numerous people that came back for second helpings. I had to use disposable plates. I opened 3 packages of 20. I had 6 left over. So, somebody definitely liked the food!!
This is not a case of food or service, this bride demanded money from me in order to not leave a bad review. I would not give in and she did actually that.
