Cassandra stayed on top of all details and addressed every one of our special requests. Her personal hands on help the day before and of the event were invaluable! All my guests raved about the venue, the fun event and the quality of the food and service. There was plenty of staff on hand to address all needs in a timely manner. The only suggestion I would make is that the resort should invest in an official high quality coat rack for that venue - especially if you plan to have more cold weather events there.

    Angel Fire Resort's reply:

    Hello Deborah,

Thank you for your feedback. It was a pleasure to be a part of your special day.

We absolutely agree about the need for a coat rack or closet at The Wheeler Peak Clubhouse for these cold-weather months, and we will be looking at options for the future.

    Sincerely,
    Cassandra

Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be which included this stunning location. Cassandra was our point of contact with Angel Fire Resort and she was fantastic. Angel Fire Resort is absolutely amazing. The staff is fantastic, and the accommodations are absolutely phenomenal. My husband and I worked closely with Cassandra Koszarek to plan every detail of our wedding, and it was her and her staff that made sure that every detail was in place, also working closely with our vendors the day of the wedding to ensure that our day was perfect. Perfection it was, from rehearsal, to the ceremony and reception. It was everything we could've ever asked for and more. The staff at Angel Fire definitely goes above and beyond for their customers, and as the bride I definitely felt like a princess, because rather than worry about decorations or timing cues, I was able to embrace every aspect of my special day. We absolutely love Angel Fire! We have definitely made it a point to make it back every year! Thank you Angel Fire Resort for making our day so special!
    Love,
    Joshua, Dalene and Waylan Valdez

We highly recommend Angel Fire Golf Club and Resort for a wedding. We held our daughter’s wedding there in May, and it was spectacular. Not only is the natural scenery amazing for the event and life-long photographs, but the staff, service and food were excellent. The customer service provided from start to finish was amazing. We couldn’t have planned this event from a distance without their help, guidance and full support for everything we needed. Our guests were equally amazed at the entire weekend experience. A destination wedding, where everyone in attendance experienced a weekend to remember, in the mountains. We couldn’t be happier with the experience and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone planning a special event!

We had the ceremony on the Valley View Deck over looking the ski slopes at Angel Fire Resort. They also provided the chairs for us. The views were beautiful and everyone I talked to was extremely helpful.

We just had our wedding at the Angel Fire Resort and it was spectacular! We planned everything long distance from Florida and Texas, only making one trip to Angel Fire to see the place in person before hand. The staff was helpful and professional, the food was delicious, they were able to accommodate all of our guests and able to handle last minute changes. The sales coordinators gave us the information we needed to plan our best wedding possible, thankfully the weather cooperated and it worked out incredibly well. They have options for all budgets. We ended up having our reception at the Country Club and it was beautiful, the food was incredible, the staff very professional and the views are unbeatable. Great value for what you pay, absolutely worth the trek up to Angel Fire, most of my guests are planning to return on vacation in the future!

I would highly recommend Angel Fire to another couple looking for a wedding venue. Cassandra and Jillian were beyond helpful. They were always available to answer any question that I had. They did more than I ever expected them to do: from setting up table with decor to helping me with a bustle. They even made sure that the groom and I had drinks and food. (many of my married friends say they didn't get to eat at their wedding). I am positive my wedding would not have been the same anywhere else. Because of Cassandra and Jillian I was able to just enjoy my wedding and not have to worry about anything!!!!
The only small problem we had through out the planning process was wedding guests trying to make reservations. Numerous guests ended up playing phone tag with reservation. At some point when you called you would only get an answering machine, other time it just rang and no one answered. So I was unable to give Angel Fire 5 stars for responsiveness.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience there!

We were one of the first weddings to be held in the new Country Club at the Angel Fire Resort, so they were still trying to figure things out, but it turned out great. They worked within our budget to create the perfect day! Mike was our wedding coordinator, but he is no longer there. They were just putting in the Wedding Green across the street on the golf course when we looked at the venue in the middle of December, and I was having a really hard time envisioning it. Mike went over the plans on how it would look in the spring to put my mind at ease, and he was right. It was beautiful and the perfect location for our ceremony. We also really wanted a plated dinner, and although the chef was hesitant at first they agreed to do this for us. It turned out great and the food was wonderful. They even made homemade ice cream to accompany our cake! I also really enjoyed that they did several tastings for us prior to wedding to create a cocktail and dinner menu and made a few cocktails on the house to get a signature cocktail! The day of the wedding turned out great. Chairs were set up on the beautiful Wedding Green just how we asked, the reception tables looked amazing, the food tasted divine, cocktail hour was held in the elements bar adjacent to the reception room and the cocktails and bartenders were awesome, they put out a tea and coffee station towards the end of the night, which was a nice touch, and the service was professional and courteous. The location is stunning with breathtaking views and the tastefully decorated reception hall has such a warm, inviting feeling. It was exactly what my husband and I envisioned for our wedding and I couldn’t think of anywhere I would rather have been married. We still go back on occasion for the wonderful food, views and atmosphere.

We had our wedding here and it went so smoothly! Staff was great!! The only issue we had was getting our guests checked in. There were a lot of issues there. But as far as ceremony and reception, it was great!

    Angel Fire Resort's reply:

    Sara,

I appreciate your feedback on your wedding experience with Angel Fire Resort. We have made improvements since your wedding to our Front Desk operations so we can get guests checked in quickly and efficiently.

First, I want to say that the day of the wedding, everything was great. The resorts catering staff was great and the representative that was with us the day of the wedding was wonderful. It was a beautiful day for my son and his bride's wedding full wonderful memories. The food was delcious and beautifully presented. The space was tight but we knew that, we were on top of the mountain in the restaurant made for skiing and mountain sports. They did a great job turning this rustic place into a beautiful wedding reception lunch. Thanks to you all.

My problem was with the lack of responses from the Wedding Coordinator. She did not respond to any of us in a timely manner, I'm actually still waiting on a response from my call on July 6th, today is October 2nd. Angel Fire put in a new Zip Line which opened in July and the bride was not told until she came for a visit in May. When my son and I met with the Wedding Coordinator in February, she did not say a word about it. You know the planning of a venue of this size needed more than 3 months of preparation. The Wedding Coordiator actually said she was surprised the bride didn't cancel after the visit in May. Really ... two months before the wedding. Thanks to the Wedding Planner that the mother of the bride found, the chair lifts and zip line were shut down during the ceremony and part of the reception.

    Angel Fire Resort's reply:

    Shirley,

I appreciate the time you took to leave us a review about Angel Fire Resort Weddings.

I was hired a year ago as the new coordinator for Angel Fire Resort, and I make it a point to be responsive and available to the wedding clients I work with. There are a lot of activities we offer here and coordinating to make those activities work with our weddings is a major priority for me.

I appreciate the feedback! We will continue to improve our operations and offer world-class services to our wedding guests.

    Sincerely,
    Cassandra

Beautiful But Not For The Faint of Heart

Our wedding at Angel Fire was stunning. It was every bit as beautiful as I'd have hoped. However, the person you may have to work with at the resort is... challenging.

First, there were a few things that changed from when we signed our contract to the wedding a year later.
2018: Open flame? "maybe, depends on the rain."

2019 two months before the wedding: "its rained a lot, you probably won't be able to be outside." Open flame? "Oh no, no open flame allowed. You can buy flameless candles though." $200+ unplanned expense.

2018: "Getting ready in this particular area is a great option for the girls, and guys are across the hall."

Day before the wedding, same person: "That's a locker room, you would be better getting ready in one of your hotel rooms... And you can't have champagne there unless you buy it from me... but you can't have glass in there."

(Notice the push to be inside started very early, after you paid for the beautiful outside scenery. They can't help the weather, but there was not a lot of effort to help make it be the best it could be either.)

The person we worked with was on vacation at least once a week in the weeks leading to the day of, so it was hard to get questions answered. And when I followed up once, I was reminded that we were not her only large group.

When we had a minor issue day of, and mentioned to the front desk that we would rather not speak with the group sales coordinator about it, the response was: "Yes, we get that often."

Additionally, there are a lot of "don'ts" and rules. I am sure many of these rules are standard, and are understandable, but they were not made clear until we were there the day before having to change our plans. Perhaps that was on me, I felt I had asked the important questions, but I had missed a few things I hadn't thought of. So be it, we worked through it all. But there was no attempt to be helpful, just a critical voice walking around telling me what I couldn't do. All day.

By the end of the day before, I was in a bathroom stall trying not to cry. And, the entire group there with me knew to keep the group sales coordinator away from me.

Would I do it again? Maybe? I don't know. It was very pretty. Just be prepared that this venue, particularly the group sales coordinator, is not easy to work with. Not for the faint of heart.

    Angel Fire Resort's reply:

I am sorry you feel that I was not responsive to your needs and that I was "challenging". I am there to make sure that what we said we'd do, we do. I do not act as the day of coordinator or your wedding planner. Regardless of my personal schedule, emails and phone messages were all answered within a reasonable time frame.

Regarding the venue, unfortunately we were in the midst of "monsoon" season and it rained the days leading up to and on your wedding day, in fact I dried off the chairs at the ceremony location twice that day. Which was why we were telling you that it would not be feasible to set up the reception out doors as we were in a rainy and wet weather pattern. We do allow for weddings to set up the day prior where as most venues give you day of access. An outdoor wedding does not allow for us to set up in the weather. Your wedding planner also talked to you about this possibility. I let every wedding know of the weather possibilities, rain, snow and cool evenings if they plan to be outside. This helps with planning on the wedding's part.

The resort does not allow any open flame in any of our venues as it is a hazard.

Regarding the use of the Country Club locker room, the resort does allow the use of the members locker room at the country club to get ready with final touches, not an afternoon of "getting ready" as this is a locker room open to our members. Even so, the day before, you asked about using the locker room whcih we talked about in 2018; and I said yes, gave the parameters and said no alcohol is allowed. You and your mom decided that since you had planned to bring alcohol to the locker room that you were not going to use it. You made the decision that you would get ready where you were staying at and do some final touches there as I had mentioned the full length mirror. Since you indicated you were not going to use the locker room, I did not alert the country club and did not order any alcohol.
FYI - The no alcohol policy is due to the state of NM liquor laws and it is clear in the contract that no outside food or alcohol can be brought on any resort premise. Your group however, showed up at the country club, after the discussion telling me you were not going to use it, and then requested champagne.

I am very detail oriented and make a lot of notes. Again, I am sorry you did not like how things were handled. Weddings can be very stressful.

A high alpine environment is not for the feint of heart. Flexibility is key.

    Felt disorganized and chaotic, disappointed

At the beginning of our conversations with the wedding coordinator at Angel Fire, we felt like it was a disorganized process. We felt we could accept these issues because of the venue price. We signed a contract that had us in specific locations on the mountain for the ceremony, reception and lodging all close to the base with amazing views. In the months that followed, we were informed that the Angel Fire wedding coordinator was on family leave and not available to help.

At this point, we were emailed and spoke on the phone to many different Angel Fire staff that discussed a variety of topics, who were totally new to us, or did not seem to know our previous conversations with the coordinator, or were not able to offer the things that the wedding coordinator had previously agreed to. We felt that we essentially had to start over again. At some point in this, we were informed that the wedding coordinator was no longer working with the organization. We felt like this turn of events threw everything from a disorganized process into chaos.

Angel Fire sent an email about 2 months before our wedding date saying they were not hosting our wedding due to maintenance and staffing issues. They offered to move it to different venues, which we felt were not the amazing outdoor venues that we had selected, or a full refund plus 5% to us to cancel. Given that we were so close to the wedding date and the venues that were proposed were not places that we wanted to hold a wedding, we opted to cancel and try our luck somewhere else.
When our guests called to cancel their hotel reservations like Angel Fire asked that they do, we heard from our guests - they felt the people that they talked to were not nice to them on the phone when they canceled, and in a few cases felt they had to call multiple times to get their refund.
