had our wedding here.. the unique character of the space is unparalleled at any other wedding venue we visited.. built in 1849 an being over 166 years old lends itself to a historic/ gothic/ romantic/ eclectic/ vintage/ artsy/ shabby chic vibe.. love that's it's located in the les and like a hidden surprise.. very unassuming from the outside and their great lighting system is critical in bringing the grand space to life..

not suitable for all types of brides but perfect if you are not partial to wedding factory venues like banquet halls, super modern stark spaces or big princess-y ballrooms.. none of those suited our style nor was i a rustic or beach-y bride so i was so very thankful my dream venue full of such character such as this exists..

highly recommend.. photos from any event here will be stunning

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! This venue is worth every penny and waitlist. It is like an adult Disney World. The venue is breathtaking, they bend over backwards to help you, and the LIGHTS!!! WOW!!! This is a historic place so take into account that there are no elevators and the stairs are a little steep. Additionally, book only vendors who have worked here before! This is super important. This isn't a place that one just runs into and sets up easily. Waiters have to bring all dishes up by hand on the steep stairs. But it's worth it. It's worth it oh so much!

All I must say is "WOW!" My wedding was breathtaking-My guests were stunned and could not believe their eyes when they walked in. Everything felt unreal. The pictures will last me a lifetime and I am so grateful to have found such an incredible space. ROBERTO was fantastic with the lighting-he was professional, organized and a pleasure to work with.

I had my wedding here and it was incredible! Rental was 12 hours long and included the chairs, tables, plates, glasses, silverware, sound system, lighting (and technician!), and security. Comfortable, central air, wheelchair accessible. Roberto, the lighting tech, is amazing (and a very nice guy, will meet with you beforehand to determine your theme, show you all the options, etc.)

Cocktail hour was great upstairs while they set up dinner below, had plenty of room and people went nuts over the interesting architectural details.

They don't lock you in and make you use only their approved vendors, nor do they charge extra for using your own people. Hours of rental give you enough time to load in without any stress, and it's great to have a location where you can do everything under one roof. Worth every penny spent!

Make sure to be detailed with contract, and confirm appointments. Gorgeous venue. Very flexible in vendors and timing.

I love this venue - it's incredible and beautiful. It's also incredibly expensive. I personally think it's worth it because my wedding was stunning, but it is cost prohibitive. The team at the Angel Orensanz is not always quick to respond. Roberto, who handles the lighting, is amazing -- so I recommend getting his contact information and reaching out to him directly.

NYC Brides, seriously BEWARE! I was supposed to get married there this past August. The marketing contact Maria Neri is a liar and and a nightmare to deal with. When we first looked at the venue she stood up my parents and I twice when we had confirmed appointments for her to walk us through the venue (while Al knows the history of the venue, he had a lot of inaccurate information about doing a wedding there). I should have taken that as a sign to go elsewhere but it was my dream venue and we put down a deposit & signed the contract anyway. Fast forward three months later to April 2014 and we see on Twitter that the venue was shut down. Maria never reached out and ignored all EIGHT of my emails asking for the status of the venue for our wedding until I mentioned the threat of small claims court. When she finally responded she lied and said she had left me several voicemails asking if I wanted to change my date to post-October. There were zero missed calls or voicemails and I even checked with my AT&T who confirmed that she never attempted to call me. We realized that we had to move our wedding elsewhere as we did not feel confident the venue would be ready in time for our contracted wedding date (and it wasn't) and did not feel comfortable dealing with Maria.

Angel Orensanz still won’t refund my money even though we won our small claims court decision (which they of course AO did not show up to). Because their insurance won’t pay for repairs, they are using deposits from brides who aren’t even getting married at AO anymore to pay for their irresponsible behavior. The management there is untrustworthy but I imagine they will pretend to be on better behavior because they will be using your money to pay for repairs. Yes the venue is unique and beautiful, but it's not worth the potential nightmare that awaits with dealing with Maria and the awful management. It's a shame because AO is a gorgeous historic building that should be better taken care of.
