The perfect wedding photographer does exist and its Ashley
I wish I had Mark Zuckerberg money so I could hire Ashley to follow me around and photograph my entire life. Ashley has an amazing talent of creating art out of authentic moments and she is so much fun to be around.
I should mention, I am camera shy. I am never comfortable posing for photos and usually find the process uncomfortable. This results in awkward posed and stiff smiles. But Ashley changed that for me. She made our engagement photoshoot feel like a fun day out on the town. Fast forward to our wedding and she magically turned the wedding party / family portrait portion of the day into one of the most fun and memorable parts of the wedding. Ashley never fell behind on the schedule we set, she handled my large wedding party and family with so much grace, she did not let any hiccups disrupt the process of the day, and every single part of the day ran smoothly and felt completely natural.
She sent us a huge preview gallery only a couple of days after our wedding that we have been admiring while waiting for our entire gallery. We knew she was an incredible photographer, but we are still in awe at how she was able to capture the most magical moments of this day. She exceeded all of our expectations.
We are so grateful that Ashley was such a big and wonderful part of our wedding day. We will cherish these photos forever. -

Do yourself a favor & just hire Ashley! She is the best person to work with not only for her photography and editing mastery, but she tells the best jokes and stories along the way. The photos are one of the only things that will stay with us forever and I am so glad I went with Ashley to capture the moments. -

Absolutely the best
Ashley Sunderland is the person you want photographing every big moment in your life. She is consistent, confident, and efficient. Ashley has done a couple shoots for us including our wedding and I could not be more pleased with the work she did. I never once worried that she wouldn't be able to handle the job. I am a professional photographer and typically very critical so when believe me when I say she is the absolute best. -

Ashley is quick, efficient, and has some hilarious jokes that gets everyone laughing for those authentic smiles! She pays attention to the little details that you don’t even realize you’ll want to remember of your big day until you see the finished pictures. She is an amazing photographer! -

Ashley is an amazing photographer you won’t regret hiring her!
During my wedding planning process it was so important for my husband and I to find a photographer who made us feel comfortable and at ease since we are both pretty camera shy. Ashley was the first photographer we met with and immediately I knew we had to hire her for our wedding. She made us both feel comfortable, explained how she worked and didn’t push us to book right away like other vendors we had met with. When it came to our engagement photos, Ashley helped guide us on how to pose and would tell jokes to help lighten the mood and make us laugh. During the wedding day, she came in earlier than expected and kept us on schedule for photos since it was going to be a 10+ hour day. I have a fairly big family and Ashley was able to take family portraits in a quick and timely fashion with all the chaos going around us. I would say Ashley’s work speaks for itself. We received beautiful photos that we will cherish for many years to come and to be honest I never thought I would have such beautiful photos taken since I’m so awkward in front of the camera! I cannot recommend Ashley enough! -

Wow!! Ashley is just amazing. When I first called Ashley she responded really quick which is something I had a hard time with other vendors. But not Ashley, she is a great communicator! She immediately booked my engagement session for 2 days after. And what a perfect photo shoot it was. We were so impressed with how she knew exactly where to go for the perfect picture and told us exactly how to stand which was so nice. She ended up giving us previews within a couple days so that we could post our website. And the rest of the pictures came not long after. We then had her for our wedding which was the best decision I have ever made. She literally ran the show. She made a schedule and timeline and told everyone where to go and when. She helped me hold my flowers and dress and gave great advice about jewelry. She even helped me fix my dress bustle when it broke in the middle of the dance floor. She was incredible! I would not have survived without her. She was like my own personal assistant as well as a photographer. She got all of the details of my wedding like I wanted and captured great candid shots of my family! I promise you won’t go wrong with her as your photographer. -

She not only accommodated all of our group photo requests seamlessly, but captured beautiful moments through detailed work. We loved each of her photos of our wedding. Not even a week after the wedding she already had our "sneak peeks" ready, and then about 2.5 months after, she had all 1,053 photos ready. All were done beautifully. I highly recommend using her photography services for your wedding needs!

User2115451 Sent on 05/01/2015Ashley is AMAZING! When I first got engaged I knew exactly who I wanted to do my wedding. There was a photographer who I had known for a few years and loved. Shortly after I got engaged she announced she was pregnant and would not be doing weddings the following year after the baby was born. I almost went into a panic because I didn't know who would be our photographer. After intense internet searches and recommendations from friends, I had a list of about a handful of photographers whose work I enjoyed. We met with Ashley and my fiancé and I instantly knew we wanted her to be our photographer. We all talked and laughed during the whole meeting. She showed us portfolios, price lists, and answered all questions we had. Her prices are very competitive to everyone else in this area. I am very glad we did not end up with the photographer we originally planned on having. Her work is far different from Ashley's and while both of them are amazing, I am 10000000% confident that we made the correct choice in choosing Ashley to capture our big day! I would recommend her 100x over! -

I hate writing a bad review. This review is not based on Ashley's skills but about how she conducted her business practice through the pandemic. Ashley would not refund our money when we had to cancel our wedding due to COVID. We postponed the wedding from May 9th (because of COVID) to August 22nd, but due to continuing travel bans, half of our guests could not come (including my dad, grandparents, other family and my fiance's best man who all live abroad). When we moved the wedding to August 22nd Ashley had another wedding booked that day and was going to refund us, but we wanted to give her our business and allowed her to give us her second shooter to shoot our wedding and to keep the full amount for our package despite her not being there. When we found out that more than half our guests still could not physically get to the wedding we had to cancel. We paid $2400 to Ashley months in advance of the wedding (way prior to the 30 day payment deadline) and Ashley would only refund $500. She was not even the one photographing the wedding! This is bad business practice on a human level and no empathy shown, especially since we would have gotten a refund originally but were trying to make things work by shifting the date. All of our other vendors gave us half our money back which we thought was fair as we still wanted to support local businesses during this difficult time. Considering the contract was for actual services (photo taking and editing), there was no work done on her part or a single finger lifted for the money she kept which was completely unfair given the circumstances. We are not wealthy and have saved up and struggled for the last 2 years to be able to pay for the wedding on our own and save up enough to afford some expensive necessities for our wedding (photography being one). She might be a great photographer, we will never know, but we felt the way she conducted business during this pandemic was heartless.Ashley Sunderland Photography's reply:
Hi Crystal,
It saddens me to see that you have chosen to leave such a negative review over a month since our last correspondence , when I thought that we had left things on good terms and had reached an understanding.
As I stated previously, this has not been an easy year for me to operate as a single person small business whose entirety exists in the wedding business. The entire purpose of signing a contract between a client and a vendor is so that each party is protected. You signed a very simply stated contract, as well as initialed next to a line that explicitly says: “I understand any and all retainers and payments are non-refundable.”
When you were looking at moving your wedding from the spring to this fall, you chose a date that you knew I was already booked for another wedding on, and would therefore be unavailable. It was actually your idea to have my main second shooter Lauren take my place instead. You even OFFERED to pay extra, because you knew that I would have more cost involved by having to hire her to take my place - but I did not charge you for that nor would I have.
When your wedding was ultimately cancelled, and you came to me for a refund, it weighed heavily on my heart - Especially after having my character and “sense of humanity” brought into question by you. I reached out to your other vendors, and was shocked to find out that no, they did not refund you money either, that they also upheld their contracts which say everything is non-refundable. I offered you $500 as a refund, even though my contract explicitly states that everything is non-refundable and you gladly accepted that refund.
The last time that we spoke was over a month ago, on July 22nd when this was your response to my last email:
“Hi Ashley,
Thank you so much for responding, we know you didn't have to, so we are very thankful you did and truly appreciate your kind words of understanding.
We also understand your situation and are super grateful for your $500 concession. We will sign the cancellation form today and get this back to you.
We wish you the best and hope for more stable times in the future. We are sure you would have done an amazing job with our wedding photos.

So I hope that you can understand my confusion on the change of heart since we last spoke - and why I do not agree with your negative review. It saddens me that this was not a better situation for us all, but I also do not think that tearing down a small business during the hardest season of their life makes this a better situation for anyone either.
