The BEST wedding venue any of our guests have ever been to

We can't say enough good things about The Basilica Hudson and Jeanne at Hudson Valley Ceremonies that is a part of the venue. They helped us throw the coolest, most enchanting, stylish, FUN wedding that any of our guests have ever been to. The venue itself is stunning but with the staff just making the process so easy and fun for us, we are so happy we found the perfect venue and team to make our dream day a reality.

    Amazing Venue with Endless Options

We had our wedding here and it was the most magical day. The space is stunning. So much room to make it your own. And it is encouraged! There were practically no rules so we had the freedom to make the event truly personalized.

    Unique and Spectacular

The Basilica is a raw space with a natural beauty. You get exactly what you see, exposed brick and metal, character, and amazing surroundings. The flexibility to use their space however you want is what sets this venue apart. It has so much possibilities and natural elements that you can do as little or as much decorations as you want. You can set the ceremony in the North hall or the outside lot, you can use the vestibule as a lounge or bar, you can create so many elements with your event. You can come back for brunch! The venue is chill- there’s only two rules. You have this amazing opportunity to design your unique wedding with control over every detail- have fun!
If you choose the Basilica, we highly recommend hiring Jeanne Stark of Hudson Valley Ceremonies, who will make planning and executing this wedding completely seamless and has so many resources that will make planning and executing this wedding as easy as of you were using a catering hall.

    100% Different

We loved the Basilica. When we decided we wanted to venture away from NYC and find a "different" type of venue, I don't think we imagined we would find such a unique venue that provides the flexibility that the Basilica does. When you walk the grounds and view the space you see tons of metal and exposed brick, it has a real industrial chic vibe to it. We were instantly consumed by the Basilica and the town of Hudson. Planning a wedding at the Basilica is a lot of work, but for us, I don't think we would have had it any other way. As a blank canvas space, there is nothing but the venue provided to you. That being said, you are not beholden to any catering packages, decor restrictions, etc that you may find at more conventional catering halls and event spaces. The staff at the Basilica was completely hands off and easy to deal with. You are required to take on a coordinator if you book their space, and we went with their recommended coordinator (Hudson Valley Ceremonies) and could not have been happier. If you want to make a wedding that is unmistakably YOU in a beautiful, rustic space I would highly recommend booking the Basilica.

    For the "cooler couple"

This venue is so unique. It's a blank canvas for all your dreams. Its a bit more alternative and appears almost abandoned from the outside...exactly why we picked it! If you're an outside of the box couple this place is amazing! Parker was so responsive and easy to work with; she always answered us in a timely manner. We booked fairly far in advance and they had our date. There's a very clear contract with costs outline that we were able to amend as needed. We rented tables/lights/etc from one of their packages and it worked out amazing. Parker was onsite the day of the wedding to make sure everything was going well and stopped by the next day at brunch to check in. Love her. Oh an they have heating now! What you use will come out of your deposit.

    We miss this place already!

We got married at Basilica Hudson in August 2016 and loved every aspect of it. The choice to get married at Basilica is one of the best we made throughout the entire planning process. Basilica has two separate and equally beautiful spaces: a ceremony room with raised steps and mismatched chairs (perfect size for 80-120 people), and the main hall which has plenty of space for up to 200 guests, a dance floor, etc. There is also outdoor space surrounding the entire building and parking, and while the scenery next to the train tracks is not traditionally beautiful or picturesque, it has a unique and authentic charm. Both inside and out, Basilica is extremely photogenic! Practically speaking, Basilica offered a number of conveniences, such as full freedom over vendors, a 48-hour rental window, and a discount for mid-week rental that made it one of the most affordable places we visited. There is also plenty of space for caterers and other vendors to work in private, and the bathrooms are very nice. The ceremony room is air conditioned; and while the main hall is not air conditioned and can suffer from a bit of a greenhouse effect, it was not too warm for our wedding on a mostly sunny, 86* day during a stretch of very warm weather.

Used Basilica Hudson services for the catering of my wedding and I am 100% satisfied. I recommend Basilica Hudson to any couple looking for a decent caterer for their wedding day.

This venue was absolutely incredible - it made our wedding. Although it is not for the faint of heart, and required a lot of imagination, heavy lifting, and cleaning to get in shape for a wedding, it was completely worth it to have such an open and unique space. The owners are extremely helpful in terms of accommodating special requests and recommending other local vendors and services. One note - our wedding was in early September and although the owners said no fans would be necessary, it was swelteringly hot. If you choose the Basilica for a summer/early fall ceremony, make sure to have a some fans or something on hand just in case.

Basilica Hudson was our dream venue. They were only in their second year of holding weddings, but mostly things ran smoothly and renting the space was a fair deal. If you are looking for a raw, industrial, arts space in a beautiful town, I can't imagine anything more perfect than this site. The management team are young and fun and helpful with local vendor suggestions. The other big plus is that the rental includes all day before and after the event for set-up/take-down -- perfect if you are doing it yourself!

Brides beware: Hidden fees, and unprofessional coordinator Parker.

Basilica is gorgeous but had I known we would enter into a year+ long contractual nightmare i would have never even thought twice about getting married here.

Renting the basilica for your wedding is very expensive, $13k expensive, but what they don’t disclose is that $13k is just the start of the fees they will randomly hit you with. If you’re like me and money is valuable to you, then please keep reading before you book.

Here is a *short* list of all the ways Parker at Basilica scams you:
-1) First contract included a caveat that IF basilica gets a liquor license within 6 months you must pay them and undisclosed amount for alcohol. Parker refused to give us an amount to budget for this secret clause.
-2) Next issue was when Parker rented out the Friday of our wedding without telling us the amount we would receive back. She promised us we’d “split” the cost which would mean $6k, but in reality we only received $2k back, and the Friday bride still paid the full amount.
When we said no, we were told it’s too late to go back and she wouldn’t even issue us a new contract detailing out the change because she didn’t have time. At this point we knew our contract meant nothing.
-3) Third issue was when we wanted to bring in all our own rentals, including lights, since of course the lights are extra. Parker told us it would cost us a fee to remove the lights, and that we had to pay to rent the lights from her.
-4) Fourth issue was after we just gave in to paying for lights that we couldn't take down, we decided to add on tables. We originally ordered 20 to be safe but we got our final count and only needed 15. Parker told us we couldn’t change the tables because the Friday bride needed more.
-5) One week before our wedding, we were then told we owed tax on the rentals for the lights and table rentals, even after we had her confirm there were no more incremental hidden fees.
-6) Lastly our “refundable” security deposit apparently contains a $400 non-refundable cleaning fee which we also found out days before the wedding.

I pray that the Basilica hires a new, professional coordinator so no other couple has to go what we went through. Good luck!!
