Food was one of the most important things for us, and when we found Big Tree we knew it was the way to go for our wedding! Chris and the team were so awesome to work with from start to finish, and the food was amazing. We heard so many compliments from our guests. We can't recommend Big Tree enough! -

We love food and knew that we wanted to put together something special for our wedding so we decided to splurge a bit and work with Big Tree. We have absolutely no regrets about that decision. They provided some of the best food we've ever eaten and many of our guests commented on how it was the best food at any wedding they've been to.
Chris was amazing to work with - always available to answer our questions and to help with refining our menu to ensure that all of our guests would have something they can eat (accommodating dietary restrictions). As our venue was pretty bare bones, we needed to rent a kitchen for them to use which they helped us navigate to ensure we had everything they needed. Since we were planning from out of state, we weren't able to make their tasting times, but Chris was able to get us a reservation at Eventide to sample some of the items on our menu as well as the general style of their cooking. We loved the opportunity to taste things and it definitely led us to altering our menu quite a bit.
The team at Big Tree truly cares about their couples and making food an important part of their day. The staff were so kind on the day of our wedding - even bringing us appetizers and water into our getting ready cabin right after the ceremony had ended. Don't hesitate - book Big Tree for an unforgettable event! -

The best wedding bbq
We came to Big Tree somewhat last minute, but they were able to work with us and sneak us into their busy schedule to help us on our wedding day. They were so easy to work with and were a great part of our wedding day. Everyone who was at our wedding speaks about how good the food was. Normally at a wedding the food is forgettable, but not with Big Tree! -

Big Tree was absolutely phenomenal - we love cooking and entertaining so decided to splurge on our wedding caterer. Big Tree hands-down was the best. The entire staff was professional and easy to work with, we were never pinched with things like vendor meals and - most importantly - the food was phenomenal. Tons of guests told us during and after the event that the meal was the best they have ever had at a wedding. -

One of the biggest things we have in common as a couple is our love of food. So when we were planning our wedding, serving a delicious meal was the #1 most important thing to us. Once we decided to get married in Maine, I jokingly wondered if our favorite restaurant - Eventide - could cater our wedding. To our surprise, we found out that they DID in fact do catering and we knew we had to have them at our wedding.
Despite what was an absolutely crazy wedding season (summer 2021), Caroline and her team went above and beyond in every regard. She made herself available to answer all of our questions, worked with us to make sure that we got the food we wanted within our budget, helped us with our event rentals and was flexible as we went through 5 different versions of the guest list - unsure how many people we'd be able to have because of the pandemic.
Not only did they knock it out of the park with the food, their team was also able to pull off a slew of last minute changes, as it became clear that Tropical Storm Elsa was going to hit during our originally fully outdoor wedding. They completely changed up their plan for cocktail hour, bar service, everything and no one would've known (even us) that it wasn't originally planned to be that way. Their entire team got absolutely soaked and still provided amazing service with smiles on their faces.
After the wedding, there wasn't a single guest afterwards that didn't make some mention of the food - the mini brown butter lobster rolls, the whole fried red snapper and the warm brown butter potatoes were favorites amongst our guests. We loved that the family style meal gave everyone a chance to taste/try everything. The Big Tree team also provided bartending service - putting out amazing signature cocktails at our request - and also helped us out by serving the gelato we got for dessert.
If you truly love great food and high quality local and seasonal ingredients - hire this team and you won't regret it. -

Working with Big Tree was an absolute dream! We wanted as close to a farm-to-table, locavore experience as possible for our wedding, and Big Tree was able to provide this and so much more. They were so lovely to work with from the very beginning, and made us feel at ease and in good hands throughout the process. They were extremely personable, fun to work with, as well as professional. We felt so connected to their team by the end of the process! They went above and beyond to tailor their catering to our vision and to our dietary restriction needs. We wanted food to be a central component of our celebration, and it totally was. Everything was absolute perfection! On top of all of that, they were amazing about coordinating beverages, including a list of natural wines we wanted to include. All around just an incredible experience and we, and our guests, are still talking about the food 6 months later. -

Hiring Big Tree Catering was the best wedding planning decision we made. We got married in September and every time I'm with friends who attending our wedding they talk about how amazing the food was. We have a framed photo of the lobster rolls served during our cocktail hour hanging in our kitchen. We got married on our friends farm and Big Tree customized our wedding menu to highlight farm produce. We had such a beautiful farm-to-table family-style dinner - it was a highlight of the wedding. Not only was the food amazing, but the Big Tree team was wonderful to work with. Amy is a rockstar. I cannot recommend Big Tree enough. Book them, now! -

Best food at a wedding I've ever had!
We made the best decision ever to go with Big Tree Catering! They were so easy to work with, had such an amazing time test tasting the food, and the day of wedding could not have gone any better. I had so many guests come up to me to say how friendly the bartenders and servers were, and we received comments from guests that it was the best food at any wedding they ever went to (and we were the last of our friends to get married, so they had been to a lot of weddings!) The food was unique, delicious and beautifully displayed. We did not have a wedding cake, and went with their assorted desserts. People were obsessed and ate them up so fast. We even did a late night taco bar for our after party that was a huge success! Big Tree not only delivers the best quality in food, but they are unique, and have such a cool sense of style and design. I could not recommend them enough!!! -

Big Tree Catering surpassed our highest expectations in every way. Our friends and family are still talking about how amazing the food was at our wedding. Their presentation was creative and flawless. Their professionalism was extraordinary. The staff was dynamite. I am gluten free, and they made me feel like I wasn’t. Amy and the team at Big Tree Catering were our top choice to cater our wedding and we are so glad we chose them. We had a black tie wedding at the TEIA club on Peaks Island so it was a bit scary to know their team would be on an island without easy access to a commissary kitchen or any equipment and supplies that weren't brought over with them. No worries with Big Tree though! This wasn't their first rodeo. The team checks every box and knows what they are doing. The tented kitchen they set up was so well organized and professional and their entire staff was as well. The highlight of our wedding was the delicious appetizers, beautiful cheese and charcuterie, the locally sourced raw bar, and an amazing family style dinner. All of the food was not only impeccably prepared but beautifully plated. The service was casual but intentional and seamless. Our guests loved everything about the Big Tree experience and it really was the highlight of our Maine wedding. We also used Big Tree to staff the bars at our wedding and the bartenders were fantastic. We highly recommend Amy and the entire Big Tree Team. -

As a professional wedding planner, I didn't take the decision to choose a caterer lightly for my wedding. I wanted the best, and I got it with Big Tree. We had so many guests come up to us and say it is the best food they have ever had at a wedding. The Big Tree team was so flexible with our menu, incorporating a few cultural elements we requested. We're so thankful for such a professional and hard-working team!
