    Fabulous music

Bigfoot Mojo was the perfect band for our summer wedding at the "Old Ranch" @ Silver Falls State Park. We let them choose music for the procession and it was phenomenal! They helped make the reception a fun and fabulous event and these people are so down to earth - the real deal! Loved every minute ! I just hope I can find where they will be playing in the future where i could attend and enjoy them again!

    Bigfoot Energy!

Bigfoot Mojo was such a wonderful group to work with. They were responsive and very helpful answering questions about setup, equipment, and music. With our busy and hectic lives planning and organizing the wedding, it was amazing to get their feedback. When it got closer to the date, we still hadn't decided on our song, and we weren't sure if it would be enough time for them to learn. They were confident and willing, no sweat!

At the event, we told them where to setup and they went to work. They played for the ceremony with just the acoustics and it was a lovely sound. When the time came for the dancing, they brought the energy. Our wedding day had record rain, and it was pretty wet and miserable. Bigfoot Mojo got us dancing and moving and everyone had a great time. Many of our guests were very impressed, including some of my friends who were also musicians.

If you want a fun band that was helpful, flexible, and had great sound to get you moving, Bigfoot Mojo may be the choice for you!

We hired Bigfoot Mojo to play our wedding at Gleneden Beach and the reception at the Salishan Resort afterward. First of all, they drove all the way from Portland, which is a 2-hr drive... I mean, how cool is that!? Belinda, Josiah, Pete, and Zach were the perfect blend of fun and professionalism! Every single song sounded absolutely amazing, and they even learned a few songs just for us! :) Would highly recommend Bigfoot Mojo for your wedding, birthday party, anniversary, Bar Mitzvah, whatever the hell you want to celebrate!! We LOVE these guys!!!

Bigfoot Mojo have are definitely a wonderful feel-good band. What makes them stand out from the rest to put them over the top are their instrumental chops. You can't go wrong here!

    Fun bluegrass band!

Bigfoot Mojo did an amazing job throughout our wedding day. They played a beautiful acoustic set during our ceremony and then really kicked it up for the reception. If you are looking for a bluegrass band for a wedding, I highly recommend them!

Cancelled a month out from our wedding to play a festival

(Update on our initial review below. After posting our review, Belinda informed us that she's been dealing with and had been dealing with extenuating family circumstances. After we'd hired another band, there was a brief mention from Belinda of elderly parents calling her home but the severity and the duration of the circumstances were only made clear after posting our review. We welcome Belinda to comment to share her perspective on our interactions here.)

    Initial review:
We were so excited to hire Bigfoot Mojo, & did deep research before hiring them. Our initial conversations were positive. Belinda & the band were willing to learn a few songs we requested. We also exchanged emails about how meaningful their style of music is to my family and I. As a bride, I was also looking for and particularly excited to have a female vocalist. We signed a contract with & paid a deposit to Bigfoot Mojo about 6 months before our wedding to formalize our agreement.

A month before our wedding, we got a call from Belinda saying that two members of Bigfoot Mojo had decided to play at the last NW String Summit festival ever (which had just been announced as the last NW String Summit ever but conflicted with our wedding). We know this is a big music summit, & understand the opportunity this presented them. However, as a consequence, Bigfoot Mojo chose to cancel & break our contract.

We were refunded our deposit. Belinda offered one alternative band suggestion for our event. The band was good based on the limited examples we had online, but they were not what we were looking for, & lacked a female vocalist. Belinda was apologetic in our conversations & affirmed us to reach out to another band (Thunder Ridge) that my fiancé & I talked to previously & that I (the bride) had an existing personal connection to.

While we hired Thunder Ridge & they did such an amazing job that a guest even left a $200 tip for the band, Bigfoot Mojo's cancellation created unnecessary stress and disappointment. It was additionally challenging as it happened at a time particularly full of pre-wedding logistics & other decisions that needed our attention.

Based on other reviews, it seems like they're a great band musically & have good energy. But we can't speak to that as they did not follow through on their commitment to our wedding.

    Bigfoot Mojo's reply:

My band mates knew of my mom's sharply declining health and that I was on the brink of canceling the wedding because I could not find a suitable sub to play in my stead. I dreaded letting Joliene and Eric down, but I had a feeling my family needed me to return to California.

When my guys were asked to play at the festival, I felt relief, as if the let-down of the imminent cancelation wouldn't be all my fault.

Looking back, it's clear to me that I was acting emotionally. I wasn't thinking about the contract, I wasn't thinking much at all! I was worried about my mom, dreading canceling all my July gigs, feeling guilty about letting down this sweet couple, and terrified of being vulnerable in front of clients. Not only did I let the couple down even worse, but I let my guys down too.

I'm grateful for this opportunity to realize that my imagination of my clients' needs isn't always reflective of what they truly need. At the time, I had imagined that if I got them another band and returned their deposit, all would be well. I had also imagined that my talking about heavy family tragedy would have been a buzz kill to the happily planning couple and that I ought to shield them from my torment. Always gotta be the smiling entertainer, right?!!

It's easy to see now, without my trauma goggles, that I burdened them with a different sort of bad feeling, that of being regarded as less important than another business venture. I wish that I had had the mental and emotional bandwidth to better handle the whole situation. I am truly sorry for my poor judgement under stress, and for leaving Joliene and Eric feeling less loved than they ought to have been by me.

I'm also keen to the irony of how my fear of being vulnerable in front of clients has backfired and now I'm vulnerable in front of the whole world! ;)

    Love you all,
    Belinda
