  Delicious food and rave reviews!

  We had Black Woods as the caterers for our wedding this past December, and it was definitely an amazing experience! My husband and I were planning our wedding from out of state, but Molly made it so easy to plan over the phone/email and was willing to meet up with us in person a few times when we traveled to Duluth during the planning process. The food was absolutely AMAZING from the appetizers to the main course, and we had so many wonderful comments from our guests about the quality and food selection. Several guests even told us that it was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding. I would recommend Black Woods without hesitation to anyone considering getting married in the Twin Ports area!

  Wonderful Experience

  We had a great experience with Black Woods Event Center! Adrienne and her team were so so helpful during the planning process. We booked with their venue about a year ahead of our date and the software they use made it so simple to always know where we were at each stage of the planning and to make payments when we wanted to!
  
  The space was newly updated with an awesome neutral colors which made our decision on booking the space easy since it was important to us to make it our own. We selected the Champagne Chicken and a Sirloin plated option which was great for our guests. Black Woods also provided us with a set up table to have place cards, gifts and a guest book! They also partner with some amazing vendor options on decor which was so helpful to us, and having the hotel for our guests next door was also so convenient.
  
  Thanks, again, to Adrienne and her team for making our day so wonderful for us and our closest! We highly recommend Black Woods to anyone

  We used Black Woods Catering for our wedding at the Glensheen mansion. The food was amazing! Many of our family and friends told us it was the best wedding food they have ever had. We chose the Steak and Champagne chicken and served it buffet style. We also chose mashed potatoes and green beans, with bread budding and three layer cake as dessert. It could not have been better! The staff serving the food were excellent and the bartender was really professional and fun. Black Woods also saved all of the extra food and let us pick it up the next day. We were extremely happy with our experience! It really couldn't have gone any better, and we would highly recommend Black Woods Catering!

  Black Woods was an absolute pleasure to work with. Very flexible, responsive and always wonderful service all along the way. The food is amazing and the venue is beautiful. The events staff are helpful and willing to go the extra mile.

  Amazing food, servers were so responsive and made the event so smooth! Very affordable as well. Super flexible, I changed my napkin color a few times and they never seemed annoyed. Very good service.

  We met with Jax prior to the wedding to set things up. Not only did she give us all of the information we needed regarding the food, but she also gave us suggestions on other areas as well. She was very friendly and professional. The day of the wedding everything went perfectly, they were prompt, clean, friendly, and professional. The food was beyond tasty.

  Had our groom's supper here in June, and it went so well. The staff were so easy to work with during the planning process, and they accommodated our slightly complicated dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free meals needed) with ease and no complaint. We had just over 40 people, and their private room was the perfect size for us. The staff were nice and attentive, and the food was so delicious! It was also nice that we got to take home all of the leftovers haha! Great place.

  Our reception was held here.The location is BEAUTIFUL. They have many decorations onsite that you can use, which is very convenient. I like that my out-of-town guests could stay at the AmericInn that was attached. We were allowed to stay pretty late, which was wonderful. They also do their own catering. My only concern is that their coordinator was new, and hard to get a hold of. She kept losing my emails, and I had to remind her several times of what I wanted. We actually ended up speaking with their "veteran" planner, Jax, who does the planning for the other Black Woods location and the Greysolon (all run by the same company). When we couldn't get a hold of our planner, Jax was very helpful and answered all of our questions accurately. However, it was the other planner writing up my contract. Review the contract you get, including the math, because mine was incorrect twice. The day of the reception, my planner was nowhere in site; we actually had someone else running the show, and he was very professional. A couple of our events didn't go as planned (under no fault of Black Woods), but he helped smooth it over and made sure that they didn't become a big deal. Table set-up and decorating went off without a hitch. We didn't have to help clean up (aside from our own decorations that we wanted to keep) which was a weight off my shoulders.

  The servers were amazing and very helpful to our guests. Also, I Love that they offer cake cutting/serving at NO ADDITIONAL COST!
  Overall the plate prices were on the higher end but the quality of the food was definitely one of the most important considerations for my husband and I and we felt that we definitely got more than we paid for.

  The vendor was late showing up to decorate. There decor was dirty when they set up, my family had to clean it.
  They told me I'd have equal amounts of meat/food for my dinner. They only served 2 meatballs per plate and ran out halfway through my guests. My guests were going to restaurant ordering food. Salads were brown and soggy.
  They're dinnerware was mostly dirty.
  They were suppose to cut and serve my cake to guests, instead my guests were doing it until my family found them.
  They also cut up my entire cake and didn't save the top of my cake, because vendors now give you one on your 1 year. I never new that.
  They also started cleaning up at about 10:0010:30, to which my guests started leaving because they thought reception was over. Which we had the place til about 1 am.
  The bathroom also had standing water from a leaky toilet and only had a caution wet floor sign.
  I went to get my food the following day and they only gave me my dinner that was left and not my late night snacks.
  We were on the phone with them for 2 days and they would only reimburse me $105 for our troubles.
  After spending almost 8000.00 they only gave me 105.00. I'm sorry, they sent the money to my mother instead of me (bride) whose name is all over the payment receipts.
  They also never did a follow up on one of guests who fell and hit their head on there property. Which they made stay for an extra 30 minutes for an incident report instead of going to the hospital.
  I am sorry for the huge comment but I would not recommend this place at all, they were only concerned for themselves and not what happened to my wedding.
