  Beyond Amazing!

  Emily is such a wonderful person to work with. From the first meeting at our engagement shoot, through the wedding. She stood up for us and our timeline when we were pressured by others to change things. She was personable and captured so many details and creative shots. She made sure to get every shot on the list I gave her, and every pose I sent to her that I wanted to get. When we got to our gallery we decided to have a viewing party, and it was magical getting to relive our special day, laughing and crying again. Last but not least, she adhered to every and any timeline that was set, always communicating updates along the way. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone in need of a wedding photographer!

  Amazing Experience!

  Emily was professional, on time and very communicative from first contact! My husband and I were unsure of how we wanted to pose in our photos and Emily did a great job of directing us, keeping it light and candid! She kept us updated on when we would receive our finished photos after the big day. The photos arrived on time and they were better than we could have imagined!! We will for sure be using her in the future.

  Fantastic photographer

  Box of Light Photography did a fantastic job for my son and daughter in law’s wedding this summer. She was professional and flexible throughout the day.   Emily is fantastic. She is mutual friends with a lot of my friends and after seeing her work she was the obvious choice for our wedding this past August. Her creative and professional work captured so many wonderful memories that we will treasure for our entire lives. She was very patient and understanding that it is such a stressful day and worked so well with us on everything we wanted.   Let me get real. I'm not a huge fan of photos of myself but everyone that Emily took I truly loved. She has a way of capturing the perfect emotion in each click of her camera. Trusting her judgment on what it looks like on the otherside of the lens is key. Some positions may feel weird but boy do they turn out to be show stopping FAVORITES. Everyone I know just adores my engagement and wedding photos. Highly recommend this beautiful woman!!!!

  COVID-19 Cancelation - no refund

  We had scheduled our wedding a year and a half in advance and secured Emily as our photographer. The State Mandated Shut Down happened due to COVID-19 and we were forced to cancel our long awaited wedding day.
  
  Emily would not refund our retainer fee of $400. She stated she would “allow us to reschedule” or “forfeit the retainer fee.” Even though the date for which we retained her she legally could not shoot a wedding where 300 people were present, because of the Governor's Executive Order.
  
  This was the only vendor out of 6 that we had this unreasonable request to reschedule a wedding of 300+ people.
  
  I would never recommend working with someone like this to anyone.

  I am truly sorry that the Covid-19 happened and that anyone had to make a difficult decision about what to do with their wedding. I'm also sorry that Emilee feels this way. Unfortunately, some of what she is saying in this review is untrue.
  
  When she emailed me asking if I would refund her in full in the event of a cancellation, I gave her several options. I gave these options so that they would not lose out on their non-refundable retainer.
  I will list them here:
  
  - To reschedule to a later date and I would just move the non-refundable retainer to the new date (and all money paid over if they wanted as well). I never requested that they reschedule, I only encouraged it so that they would not lose out on money from all of their vendors. I have had a lot of my couples do this and they were very relieved that this was an option. Yes, it is a lot of extra work. I understand that, but it is possible.
  
  - To have the wedding outdoor with the practice of social distancing with the number of guests that may be allowed at the time and possibly live-stream the wedding to guests who could not come.
  
  - To have a small intimate wedding like suggested above and have a big party later when it was allowed. I offered to photograph both at no extra cost.
  
  - To use the non-refundable retainer towards a couple's session with product within 1 year.
  
  Ultimately she chose to cancel on April 26, 2020 when there was no stay-at-home order in place for their wedding date of May 30, 2020. When their date arrived I was allowed to photograph small outdoor weddings with up to 10 people while practicing social distancing. I have since done so with a different wedding couple. I could have fulfilled our contract. I do not charge or base contracts on the number of guests at a wedding. The last option they decided to go with was this:
  
  - To refund the money paid above the non-refundable retainer, but the non-refundable retainer would not be returned as stated in the contract that we all signed.
  
  My contract states: A non-refundable retainer fee of 1/3 of the total package price is due at signing and will be credited toward the products and services purchased in conjunction with this event. This fee is for the purpose of retaining the services of the photographer for the desired date and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation or date change for any reason.
  
  I refunded the money paid over the non-refundable retainer. I held this date for a year and a half and turned away other work. There is no point whatsoever in having a contract if we do not stick to it. I have the clause stated above in my contract to protect my business in case of cancellation and any other unforeseen circumstances. I believe I was very reasonable with these options that I have offered all of my couples this season and am happy to say that all of my other couples worked with me to find a solution for their big day.
