Bread Garden was a dream come true for hiring a caterer for our daughter's wedding. We are not local, so the prompt communication and informative recommendations were a blessing. Even a last minute addition of an item for delivery was executed smoothly. The food and wine was exquisite. We were in Iowa City for a week and found ourselves eating and shopping at Bread Garden daily. Even if you are not in need of a caterer, please make time for a trip to Bread Garden. It's a treat!!! -

The best catering company out there! If we could give more than 5 stars we definitely would. Never thought I’d meet someone more organized than me but Christa might be that person. :) She is extremely on top of the ball, very responsive, and definitely someone that you can trust to perfectly execute your catering event. She also spent extensive time answering all my questions during our tasting and via email and response time was always very fast. Every minute detail was accounted for, down to ensuring what color serving platters or type of disposable plates we wanted for apps/desserts.
We got so many compliments on our wedding food to the point where people were still talking about the food a week later! Sometimes food isn’t the most memorable thing from someone’s wedding day but definitely something that we and our guests will remember from our wedding day. Both sides of our families have amazing cooks so our whole family is honestly very picky when it comes to food so it is a HUGE compliment to say that there were no complaints and everything was cooked to perfection! Would recommend for catering to anyone and everyone planning a wedding and have already sent a few referrals Christa’s way :) -

Our guests loved the food. Christa was so helpful, even helped me with a to-go tasting as we were trying to choose caterers during Covid-19! They were even able to accommodate our vegan guest. The staff was experienced and didn't need any guidance for set up! -

We had a great experience working with Bread Garden to plan our day - from a champagne toast after the ceremony, to cocktail hour appetizers, to dinner and finally our cookie tower, they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted! They even offered wine service during dinner which was such a nice touch for our guests. We absolutely loved the food and everything was hot and delicious when it hit the table even though we opted for a plated meal for our guests. They are truly flexible and will work with you to do things the way you want. BG is also EXTREMELY accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions, so I highly recommend them if that is a concern for you or any of your guests. We are so happy we went with Bread Garden Market for our wedding caterer. We used them for reception dinner and for appetizers during cocktail hour. They had servers walk around with the appetizers which added a touch of class to the occassion!
Also, working with Allison as our catering manager was the absolute BEST! She is so professional and made us feel like we were in the best hands at all times! There wasn't a single thing I would change about the food for our wedding. Plus our guests were raving about how delicious the hangar steak and mashed potatoes were!
We would book with BGM a million times over again, especially if we got to work with Allison again! -

I really don't know what we would have done without them. The food was delicious and they were so flexible even when we ended up running over a half hour late. I can't recommend working with Bread Garden highly enough. -

Paul Sent on 07/08/2017Bread Garden was not a vendor we initially considered because they were a bit outside our budget but after a few of the cheaper options seemed inconsistent (at best) in communicating with us we looked at more expensive options. I am SO glad we did. The best thing I could say about Bread Garden is that I barely noticed they were there on the wedding day. That's how seamless it was. And it's amazing that this is the thing I remember most considering the food was FANTASTIC. Seriously. Our guests can't stop talking about it. Get the taco bar. It's a great idea. -

She is down-to-earth and helps in a variety of ways; she was especially helpful for my husband and I because we tend to be on the shy side and she was able to jump in and help move us in the right direction and always willing to answer questions or address concerns. We decided to do family style service for our wedding with home-cooked recipes like rotisserie chicken, a pork loin, and an assortment of side dishes, and we have not heard a single bad review from our guests. One of the best things, for me particularly, was that Cara and Bread Garden were willing to work with me to find new sides and main courses outside of their menu to accommodate dietary needs and restrictions. We set up a tasting with them just a couple of months before our big day and their chef and event coordinator were fabulous about offering suggestions and working with us to achieve exactly what we wanted. Their menu is extensive and their chef was willing to make any adjustments or additional dishes we might like. On the day, their staff were courteous, professional and just generally great to have around!

Emily Sent on 07/12/2013I worked with Bread Garden as the caterer for my wedding in May 2013 at The Celebration Farm and they were fantastic to work with. The food was great, the service was great and they were so wonderful to work with in the planning phase as well. They gave me clear expectations based on each request and when we had creative ideas and requests they were excited about helping us bring those ideas to life.
The added benefit of working with them at that venue is that they work there often and can seamlessly coordinate with the venue staff. I heard nothing but great feedback from my wedding guests as well. I would definitely recommend working with them! -
