I have ordered 5 cakes from Katelyn and am so excited to order many, many more! She is incredibly thoughtful, kind, talented, and amazing to work with. She always makes my ideas, no matter how crazy or farfetched, look even better than I could have imagined. Her cakes have made birthdays and other parties for myself and my loved ones, that much more special. Not to mention, they are the most delicious cakes I have ever tasted. If you don’t live too far away from Durham, do yourself a favor and order a cake (or multiple) from her!!Capital Cakes's reply:

Katelyn at Capital Cakes was very professional and easy to communicate with. She was flexible after changing wedding venues multiple times due to covid. Her cake and cupcakes were a hit and everyone raved how great they tasted and looked. She had several cake stands you could rent and did the delivery and set up with ease. We would 100% recommend her for any of your cake needs. -

We hired Katelyn to make our wedding cake and cupcakes for our November 2020 wedding after meeting her at the local bridal show. Each time we got to sample her product, we were blown away at how high quality and delicious they were! She offers so many flavor options for both the cake and frostings that we were able to fully customize our choices. We decided on a lemon cake with raspberry jam for our cutting cake and cupcakes with three different flavors (lemon with raspberry buttercream, peach cobbler cake with apricot butter cream, and apple pie cake with cinnamon frosting and caramel drizzle). Everyone RAVED at how delicious they were! We even booked her again for my friend's 25th birthday cake! Through the whole process she was super responsive and even kept us updated when she made minor recipe changes to ensure it was still what we were looking for! I highly recommend her as a baker for any event! -

We rescheduled our wedding from a destination to local and we were so fortunate Katelyn had availability! She was super flexible with getting us cake samples and had a great selection of flavors. Though it was hard to pick just a few. We told her our ideas for cake design and sent some pictures and she ran with it! Very easy to work with and communicates well! We were super happy with the service and the cake. We are waiting for a birthday so we can order another cake :) -

Best Cake and Dessert experience!
Katelyn helped me with my wedding cake and wedding dessert. We communicate about my preference about cake and what we want in our dessert. I want a lot of different type of dessert with different looking, color and taste. Katelyn is so patient and professional. She designed all the cake and dessert also help me display in the ballroom and setting up all the decoration and cake stand! It looks so beautiful and all the cake and dessert are finished by 100 guests in 10mins. They are so attractive and good taste. It’s one of my best experience in my wedding.Capital Cakes's reply:

We cannot recommend Katelyn, of Capital Cakes, enough. From start to finish the process was seamless. There are a TON of cakes, fillings, and frostings to choose from. Limitless options. Despite my love of cake, I did not have a “vision” for my wedding cake. I wanted something that looked nice, but also fit our budget. Katelyn was the answer. She listened to our thoughts and made suggestions and worked with us to build a vision for our cake. In the end, it couldn’t have been more prefect. All of our guests raved about the cake flavorings and frosting. Katelyn was prompt to answer emails, especially as our final number count decreased and we needed to adjust our order.Capital Cakes's reply:

Wonderful Cake, Design, and Person!
We could not have asked for a better cake or a more fantastic person with whom to work. Katelyn took our combined vision and created a beautiful design. The cake (vanilla pound) was beyond delicious and several people asked us for her contact info after the wedding. She stayed in touch with us throughout the process and delivered everything as promised. I cannot say enough about this experience or this cake!Capital Cakes's reply:

Capital Cakes was absolutely amazing! Katelyn made our vision of our cake come to life! She is very creative and was super helpful with answering our questions. What really helped my husband and I decide on what delicious cake flavors to choose from was the cake taste appointment. We had a blast trying various cake flavors and getting to chat with Katelyn. We had lots of compliments from our guests, everyone enjoyed the variety of cake flavor in each layer. Definitely would recommend Capital Cakes!!Capital Cakes's reply:

I met Katelyn of Capital Cakes NC at a Bridal Exposition last November in Raleigh. I fell in love with her cake samples and was extremely impressed with all of her designs she had out. My husband and I did a cake testing with her and we honestly had such a hard time deciding what flavor we wanted for our cakes because they were ALL so delicious. Katelyn was awesome to work with, very experienced, and EXTREMELY talented!!! I was so incredibly happy with how she put to life the vision I had for my husbands groom's cake and our wedding cake. Working with Katelyn was amazing! She designed our dream cake the first time we met her, and the sketch was so similar to what we saw on the wedding day. You know how wedding cake usually looks pretty but tastes bleh? Not Kate's cakes, they are beautiful AND delicious. She also made us some macarons that our guests loved! (If you've ever tried to make macarons, you know they are extremely difficult to get right). And our cake toppers were delicately crafted macarons shaped like goats!! If you want fantastic desserts, while working with a wonderful, communicative, professional pastry artist, at a reasonable price, Kate is your person! We will be coming back to her in the future!Capital Cakes's reply:

Exactly What I Wanted
You know, sometimes you do your best to communicate your ideas to someone else, and then you just have to wait and hope that they saw in their mind what you saw in yours. Well, Katelyn nailed it, better than I dared to hope. She was very easy to work with, and even though we ordered a smaller cake, she took time to talk us through all of the decisions and provided great advice. She squeezed us in on a relatively short notice, and I'm glad she was able to, because I don't think I would have been as happy with the results from another baker. And it was delicious to boot. The cake was a perfect finish to our wedding festivities. My mom refused to believe it wasn't fondant until she tasted it.Capital Cakes's reply:

Although I didn't get the chance to meet with Katelyn in person as I was planning my wedding remotely, she was very accommodating and we discussed about my visions for the cake through Google Hangout. She took notes and drew sketches to make sure that she has all of the details correctly. The top 2 layers of my cake were covered with her homemade marshmallow fondant (that actually tasted good) and hand painted with beautiful watercolor patterns. The bottom layer is covered with delicate floral gold lace. Her lace work is absolutely phenomenal! Her prices are very reasonable compare to other wedding cake vendors and I would highly recommend her to design your dream wedding cake!Capital Cakes's reply:

Katelyn was an absolute joy to work with and made every part of this important element of our day seamless and beautiful. In all the hustle and bustle of the busyness of the wedding day, the last thing I could possibly think about was where and whether the cake was set up, but she handled everything beautifully without me ever having to think twice, down to rearranging things on the dessert table to make it more photogenic. In the planning process, she was absolutely transparent about cost and making sure that we got exactly what we wanted. 10/10 would recommend!Capital Cakes's reply:

Katelyn was amazing!! We went to her office to try different types of cakes, and SO YUMMY! She helped take my non-creative mind and bring my perfect cake to life! When a previous bride didn't return the cake stand we initially wanted, she checked in with us and sent us a variety of other options.

Katelyn was such a delight to work with for our wedding cake. I loved her enthusiasm and attention to detail. I would've loved to do something more daring (as I know she would've rocked it!), but I decided to go a more classic route. My cake pictures are gorgeous and I ate cake for days!
