  I always wanted smith island cakes as my wedding cake and that is what I had. We ordered 5 cakes in different flavors, everyone raved about them!! Meredith was great to work with.

  I wanted yummy wedding cake. I've been to too many weddings where the wedding cake looked gorgeous, but when I took a bite, it was dry and the icing was hard. I did NOT want this to be the case at my wedding! My husband and I LOVE Smith Island Cake, so this was a no-brainer when it came to deciding what kind of cake to have. And we chose 6 different flavors! Classic Cakes stacked 4 of our Smith Island Cakes and iced them in the best buttercream icing ever to look like a wedding cake. It was perfect! The other 5 cakes were free-standing around the wedding cake and had cute little signs to state their flavors for our guests. Guests didn't have just one piece of cake, they had 2 or 3 to try all the flavors! There was only 1 cake left and that's only because the caterer put it in the fridge for us! :) Otherwise, it would've been gone too! I highly recommend Classic Cakes for your wedding cake!

  Susan at Classic Cakes did a wonderful job on both the wedding cake and the grooms cake. Our wedding cake was classic vanilla cake with raspberry truffle filling and white butter cream icing. The grooms cake was way more involved and Susan did a terrific job with it. I took her a picture that I found online of a cake that looked like a mountain with snow all over it and surrounded by trees, with a pair of boots sticking up from the snow. She recreated it perfectly! It was the talk of the rehearsal dinner and was delicious! It was chocolate cake with peanut butter filling on one tier and almond cake with raspberry filling on the second tier.

  Classic Cakes did a great job on our wedding cake. It was exactly what we asked for and was the best tasting wedding cake ever. Do go for Fondant, do butter cream. We had a layered cake. The cake flavor was almond, we had butter cream icing with chocolate swirls, we also had raspberry filling and chocolate filling. Everyone enjoyed the cake. It went with our theme exactly as we had asked. We would recommend them!

  Classic Cakes was my number one choice for our wedding cake. They were very accomodating and were easy to work with. The only problem I had was that they put the wrong cake flavor on one of the tiers. It was supposed to be a grand marnier and strawberries and they used vanilla. Of course I didn't even realize this until the day after but it was a little upsetting.

  I loved my wedding cake. The flavors were the best in any wedding cake I've ever had (and I know I am a little biased, but it's fact). The cake was very moist. We chose a Smith Island cake, and each of the three tires was a different flavor. The staff was very professional and helpful during consultation in choosing flavors and designs. They did not decorate the cake exactly to our ordering tho. We asked for a brown ribbon band along the bottom of each tier, which they did, and dots of frosting on the cakes to look like Swiss dots, which they didn't. We had to deliver our own cakes because our venue was four hours from the shop, and they weren't packaged very well for a four hour drive. The top tier slid in the large box touching the side so one side was cosmetically damaged. Taste was exceptional though and priced very well that I still recommend them! Just be cautious if traveling a long distance with them.

  It was a little difficult to reach someone to set up a tasting and order. We even had to go back a second time as the manager didn't bother to show up for the first meeting and didn't call to cancel.
  The cakes did arrive on time and were excellent as expected. They were able to work with the reception venue to schedule delivery during a busy weekend.
  My five for quality of service refers to quality of product (cakes). The people working in the shop are nice. The manager was also nice and communication was fair as the wedding date approached.

  Please note that Susan, who was the person that made and decorated the cakes in the previous reviews, is no longer with classic cakes. That said - we were extremely dissapointed in our wedding cake! We chose a simple design of 4 stacked cakes with ivory fondant and a design of white tiger lilies to be done over top of it in ivory then our florist was going to add flowers. The cake was done with orchids and not tiger lilies and the orchids were sloppily done. By the time the florist went to put the flowers on the cake half an hour after it was delivered, the fondant was falling off and the cake was sagging. He was afraid to touch it and thus there were no flowers on the cake at all. The cake was the centerpiece of our room and everyone saw how bad it looked.
  
  When I went after the wedding to complain to Classic Cakes, I was basically told they didn't believe me, given every excuse in the book as to why it would have been falling apart and never once did they apologize. Then the owner told me "I am not a very good business woman all I know how to do is make cakes, I will talk to my husband and call you back." It has now been 2 weeks and I have yet to receive any correspondance from them.
  
  This also was not a fluke - they did a cake last weekend for a wedding a friend attended, the entire bottom tier crumbled before the guests ever arrived.
  
  I would reccomend them ONLY if you are buying a simple Smith Island Cake, do not use them for any special events where you need a decorated professional cake.
