    We searched for awhile for a reception venue. It was hard for us to find a space that fit within our budget but Costa Mesa Country Club (CMCC) was one of the only places that seemed reasonable within the area. They have their own catering service, and contract with a chair cover service that offers a discount when used at this venue.

    Vanessa, the catering manager, was very friendly and helpful throughout the process. She may at times seem flighty, but don't worry. I've seen how organized she is, and I never felt that I had been forgotten.

    She was knowledgable about how many appetizers and bottles of champagne I needed, and we had exactly enough of each on the wedding day. We were able to sample all the food and the wines that would be available that day. Ceremonies are also available on the grounds, but we just used this site for our reception.

    Everything was set up in time for the cocktail hour, and all the vendors were able to set up before people showed up. My guests told me that the appetizers were good (and they got to enjoy the beautiful weather out on the balcony!). I can say that the Chicken Florentine was delicious, and I was told that the Mahi Mahi was also very good.

    My husbands favorite part about this place was the bar. Unlike other places we looked at, CMCC didn't require us to pay a certain fee per person, and only for a certain period of time. We paid a certain amount up front, and then when people ordered drinks they subtracted from this total. We were told when the money had reached bottom, at which time we could have added more money (but we forgot to bring cash,) but it worked out ok, because our guests were certainly ok by that point :). I liked not having to pay for guests I know would not drink, and for others who would only partake in a drink or two.

    We utilized the beautiful grounds for pictures. I'll post some when I get them back from my photographer, but I am certain they will be beautiful. Other staff on the golf course were very friendly on the wedding day, and told us where to go without having to worry about getting struck by golf balls!

    BOTTOM LINE: I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a decently priced venue, that offers good quality/delicious food, and offers beautiful areas for pictures. I am very glad I found this place, and I want others to enjoy it too! :)

    Our event was held on 5/17/08 and it was the perfect place for our family and friends. The reception had 200 guest and the room was large enough for everyone to move around and it had a wonderful dance floor. The food was EXCEPTIONAL our guest are still talking about it not to mention the price for the entire event. :)

    Rent a room but be prepared to only get to use a corner, unprofessional staff, and broken promises.

    My experience with the Costa Mesa Country Club was beyond disappointing. After booking my room and paying my deposit communication became poor, as the event director was busy with other events. This should have been a warning sign, but never did I think that when I arrived to set up for my event that I would only get to use less than 1/2 of the room. At this point I had paid for the whole room and services in full. This was another mistake as I now have no way to get a refund I was promised and am being refused. I was told by event workers that I should have been informed that they would be setting up the party that was taking place after mine during my event. This in no way was communicated to me nor was it stated in my contract. Why would I pay for a room and not want to use the full room. I informed the staff this was unacceptable and asked for tables to be removed. I was told flat out NO. Apparently the event staff were more concerned about someone else's party and not mine. I was supposed to have at least 8 guest tables with 6 people seated at each. They only provided me with 5 seating way too many people at each table 10 people were crammed into a small space. There were obviously ample tables available but they were already set up for the next event. When guests arrived they didn't know where to sit, photos all had to be framed so a sweet 16 set up was not in the background of my baby shower. With further complaint I was told I would be receiving some type of refund. After the event I emailed the event coordinator and was told that this should have never happened. I was hopeful that they could rectify the situation with at least a full room refund. Speaking with the event coordinator I was promised a full room refund. After weeks of waiting I received less than 1/2. They will not be refunding the rest, the manger refused to return phone calls.
